Have you thought about how you will move your data from the AmigaOne XE hard drive to the Sam 460 ? |
Yes I did !
I've got an adapter with all kinds of connectors on it, ATA, SATA and more, all leading to an USB connection. It works, I've used it several times.
Just gonna connect my ATA drives to the SAM's USB bus using that adapter
If the USB bus works without bugs, it all should be fine.
I'm just a bit scared that I might have lost my data cause of the same malfunction that killed my CPU or whatever is broken. I don't think so, but I'm still a bit scared about it.....
Sunday evening I was thinking that I might have to backup my MP3's again because I added quite a lot recently, but decided it was late and I would do it in the morning. Ofcourse it never took a breath again.....
Let that again be a lesson to all of us, BACKUP YOUR DATA !!
90 percent is still on my mediaplayers HD though

So you have your game plan in place. Very good .Always best to think about it before to avoid any wrong choices made when under stress. _________________ Sam460ex : Radeon Rx550 Single slot Video Card : SIL3112 SATA card |

Hmm. . . . . Quite likely to be failed contacts between CPU and PCB. Though it's worthwhile to examine EVERY component with a high powered magnifier or loupe. Extremely time consuming and tiresome, but you never know what you might find.
There are 483 contacts under the CPU (22x22 with 1 pin missing at A1), any one of which fails could give all sorts of problems I'd guess?
You could try the applying pressure trick, if you haven't already done so. Press as hard as you dare, even rig up something that will keep a constant pressure, which is what I did, out of pieces of wood etc! Tap and disturb all other components.

not likely. usually a chain breaks only its weakest spot, not on multiple ones. ive never had such a case at least. Quote:

I usualy back things up on DVD, but plan on getting an external USB HD and firstly back things (quite often) up on there , then with longer intervals backing things up on Bluray. And keep every backup, NOT rewrite the disks.
But I need to get that pesky bluray writer to work on windows first. I also plan on just trying it on OS4 using frying pan or MakeCD. Who knows, it might work MakeCD was never designed for writing DVD's but that does work.....

id rather backup on a raid or two independent hds via usb or over the network. for instance in form of archives (lha would do). from my experience dvd and cd have proven to be quite unreliable for a longer time. i dont remember when i have burned any to be honest. |

We can read Blurays with OS4.1 in ISO9660 format.

How do you mean? You got MakeCD to burn a DVD!?
I'm certain it didn't work here but... |
