Yep you are right altrough i'm not sure if Javascript is the real responsable of such specific behaviour, i say that because similar problem sometimes happen even on simple website like Amigaworld.net and others when big scripts are not involved at all .. in general all OWB need to waking up is --> close OWB and then reopen it again using the very usefull "Restore Session" commodity support

@samo79

Well, even a simple site like amigaworld.net involves some scripts, like tracking stuff from google, which means new dns resolutions, and these ones might very well block for whatever reason (you can see all loaded resources in webinspector). If you want to make a fair comparison, disable javascript (or use content/ad blocker, since it will block ads here, for instance).

A-ha! Think I might have got it.

Try this version:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/cdyoung/tmp/libcurl-threaded.lha

You can test it with NetSurf by dropping libcurl.so.7 into NetSurf's directory, or wait for kas1e to re-link OWB against the static version.

I tried that, I get a little window that scans fonts then states initialising and then nothing apart from an outputbstating 'can't find cinfig file' or something similar!

Just noticed my build isn't even working with SSL, libcurl is getting an unknown error back from openssl (line 1854 of ssluse.c). Anybody know why this is?

Indeed, infact when i'm going into such trouble i always monitor my net activity (and in general i tend to browse the net having the AdBlock activated), but problem still from time to time while Netsurf (or my PC with Firefox even connected on the same net cable of my Sam440) never suffer of such similar connection issue ..

I even suspect about some bad DNS resolution but if so why at the same time (and on the same machine) i can easily load the "broken" page using NetSurf ?

Is it possible that a browser without Javascript can be able to bypass certain temporaneal problem with DNS ?
Maybe it's silly question don't know .. i just try to understand in a way or another !

The usual error i got after a while is the infamous "Server returned nothing (no headers, no data)" so i start a quick research about this error and i found this link:

http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/index.php?view=513&language=1

This is an interesting part i presume:

Quote:
Anywhere between BOINC 5.10.45 and 6.10.18 a bug crept into libCurl (which handles the communications in BOINC), that would corrupt the TCP/IP DNS stack that your OS (and thus BOINC) uses to know where servers are.

What do you think ?

I love OWB. It's my favourite Browser. It does all the things that i need. Only flash support is a thing that miss a little.

@Deschain

I think maybe you over react.

Remember people are doing this in there spare time and sometimes life gets in the way. Plus there is always more than likely technical issues to deal with.

Basically what I am saying is, Cut them some slack.

LOL. Our chosen computers have a Spanish name, we should not be angry or surprised if progress of voluntary programs happens at a leisurely Spanish pace.

What makes you thinks so? Remember when everybody was using Joerg's OWB? His updates weren't very frequent either, were they? Just give kas1e some slack, he's a busy guy doing million things.

Well, MUI-OWB for AmigaOS4 is here and works - I use it every day. At least three people spent months making it all possible; saying what you've said is insensitive and tactless. Projects may die, that's true - big projects that are never donated to will die for sure.

I hate when people talk like this on any forum, I'm always fearfull that the person(s) it's aimed at will just think 'Sod it, why am I bothering with it all'

I would like to see MUIOWB updated as well but knowing what goes into these projects I'm prepared to wait.

To all those involved in MUIOWB, keep up the good work, im sure its appreciated by the majority.

@eroom

I can only say from my own experience that there is always a person moaning (in worst case bashing), you can never do something that makes everyone happy. If it is fact based critisicm you have to live with it, if it is insulting you have to shake it away or report it to admins.

So as long the vast majority of users is positive I do not fear that someone drops it support. If there is no or not much feedback and all negative that can be different. But regarding MUI OWB I do not believe that
