Of course not. MorphOS on 970MP would be really nice.

There are PCIe based computers with AmigaOS (X1000, SAM460EX) that don´t have such problem, I wonder what issues has G5 in this regard.

No likely G5 but chipset it uses it might as well be temporary fix. And yes we already know that OS4 hardware is superior in every possible way but I thought this thread was about MorphOS 3.2?

That could be. PA6T and 460EX have PCIe support in their SoC, so it is probably less complex to support full memory range.

There is also a third side of coin ;). In (poor?) central Europe - used Powermacs G5 are cheap and easily available, so instead of 350 euro you pay 350 PLN here. I bought my PM G5 2x2GHz for 140 PLN. Sure new PPC hw would be nice, but if not mass produced it will be always "overpriced and slow".

Thanks for the update. Poland and Czech Republic used too do better in transition, however with world crisis, everyone seems to do a bit worser. However, 100 euros are not equal everywhere in terms of purchasing parity, but I am glad for you.

Apple used to be the only one to mass produce PPC machines, so without them in picture,
seems we have to pay the additional price for not being mass produced.

But everything is better then no hardware situation in between Eyetech death and SAM 440 arrival. So my big compliments for Acube and nowadays A-EON no matter how expensive boards have to be to be at least profitable.

@Thread

Wow an Amiga like OS that I can buy for my old iBook G4. Awesome news

Now five questions;

1) How much is Morph OS3.2?

2) Where's the link to buy it?

3) Can I play the 68k version of WipeOut 2097 on it?

4) DeluxePaint compatibility?

5) What web browser it best for MorphOS?

@BigD

1) €111.11

2) There's a registration tool included with the OS.

3) There's no 68k version of Wipeout 2097 but the WarpOS PPC version should run with no problems.

4) Not sure if any versions run directly from MorphOS but there's always E-UAE and the 68k JIT will be available for MorphOS as well as OS4 when completed.

5) Odyssey Web Browser. It's included with the OS and can play video on Youtube.

Small correction:

3) there is currently no W3D compability layer for R300 based GFX-cards so Wipeout won't run on the last gen iBook (1.33GHz 12" and 1.42GHz 14"). Older iBooks have a Radeon9200 which should work with W3D titles.

4) PPaint works on it. I think it's good replacement for DPaint, if not even better.

@BigD

For WipeOut and R300 you can use the Playstation version with FPSE. With R200 the WarpOS version runs quite well (you need to download the MorphOS Wipeout loader though - but it's pretty fast even on lowest end systems (read: Efika with its 400 MHz).

For DPaint things are not that good. DPaint V could run (IIRC it failed on recent MorphOS releases, but don't know if someone tried it out on 3.2 already), but I guess it won't. I use DpaintIV on e-UAE for MorphOS - fast and stable enough. If you have an adf of DPaint you can lauch it in Ambient directly via UAE (if tool types are properly set up).
PPaint is probably a good alternative, I use TVPaint a lot (runs 100% stable, only the mouse pointer is too tiny on today's big resolutions)
And there are a few new programs like Gribouillis which is specialized in drawinfg with drawing tablets or the included program "sketch".

and it is not intended, since goa3d, or whatever it is called, development has stopped. so the situation seems a little similar to what happened on os4. an opportunity to repeat my mantra: best thing for discountinued (amiga) projects would be to open source them if possible, in order to preserve the code and the unlikely possibility that someone could pick up at some point. though i know it wont happen, i have asked before.

A-Eon announced developement of Warp3D for RadeonHD cards. If OS4.2 will support both old Warp3D and new Gallium3D on these cards, is another question.

Most MorphOS applications use TinyGL, only few (really nice) games need Warp3D compatibility. Price for progress.

Superiority of OS4 noticed, now get back to OS4 threads crying how they are spoiled by MOS users.

ive just wrote about confirmed facts not about assumptions. goa3d for r300 might happen as well as warp3d for radeon hd but not necessarily.

I think I mis-understood this bit "Intuition"> "Updated to handle R300 3D support" is this just support for layers3D or whatever MorphOS equivalent of the OS4.1 compositing is called.

@wawa

That was for R300 driver which is a part of 3.2. An W3D-wrapper was not mentioned back then.
There is not much use for such wrapper apart for Wipeout IMHO.

I corrected/amended wawa´s statement. There is no need to be agressive towards me. It is known fact that MorphOS 3D drivers are superior to OS4 drivers.

@Develin

And some nice plugins for AmigaAMP / AmiNetRadio / MPlayer are using Warp3D, too.

Maybe Wazp3D could help?
