Well, I will never put FFS(2) on anything that doesn't absolutely requires it. It is by far the most fragile FS IMO and experience. No other FS has lost me more data. FFS gets you into validation weekly or at least monthly, and if that fails and hangs or crashes or never stops; recovery tools is of little use. It's no wonder there are so many recovery tools for FFS - because it fails all the time!
PFS-3 and SFS 1 seems to be the most rigid, but PFS doesn't run on PPC and SFS 1 has partition limits I cannot allow here. So I guess SFS/2 is the only way if you say JXFS is so very bad. Although I somehow don't believe SFS/2 is any better (or worse).
