Yes, but from the pictures I have seen, don;t these motherboards only have 2 card slots? How does one put three different cards into 2 card slots? Or do the pictures not show everything?

Also, DOES this motherboard include ethernet built-in? Does anyone know?

Thanks,

Scott

Notice that now no Sam440ep-flex motherboards or systems are displayed.
So looks like the end of the line for new Sam440ep-flex motherboards .

@retro

does not look so.
so budget for the cost of the full RadeonHD driver either version 1.2 or version 2.4.

Technical Question

What speed of memory module does the motherboard use?

PC2-3200,PC2-4200,PC2-5300/PC2-5400/PC2-6400.

@Spectre660

Memory module has poor timing.

As standard here in my notebook I use KHX6400S2ULK2,Kingston Ultra Low Latency and I can say without doubt it makes a big differences.

Big a different is to small a word,its massive as for the first time I can play Doom 3 with very high settings in widescreen.

If I get this motherboard which is most likely it must support the above memory module even if I have to go custom firmware.

I have also being working on a Enhanced version on the above memory module with even lower timing than the standard 4-4-4-12 operating at standard 1.8v, SPD to be edited to reflect changes (Custom Private Memory Module).

http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CB0QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kingston.com%2Fdatasheets%2FKHX6400S2ULK2_4G.pdf&ei=55dnVJM20-9o2_WC6Aw&usg=AFQjCNFWEEojW3hAQBISj11LaDFCLVLY3w

NOTE: 4-4-4-12 timing is a JEDEC standard.

@Spectre660

Thanks

I just needed to know what type of memory module this motherboard use. I have a few DDR2 memory modules which I am fairly confident will work.

The question is, can it support faster memory module if one is inserted and take advantage of a more common faster memory timing.

Example here I do have a slower 5-5-5-15 and also 6-6-6-xx

Why don't you read the manual?

http://acube-systems.biz/download/Sam460ex_EndUserManual_v1.3.pdf

I quote:
(RAM DDR2 - 200-pin SODIMM) max 2 GB – J4 (we suggest the use of a 667/800 Mhz module)
We suggest that you use RAM modules which are CL 6 (Cas Latency)

Thanks for the link,seen the manual.

CL6 is recommended,but I am just asking a question. Is it possible if the flashrom was updated to support CL5 or the more rare CL4 PC-6400 so-dimm,so that CPU can take advantage of this due-to faster access.

Here my notebook can detect the timings automatically, so if I buy this motherboard can I adjust the memory timings manually in the bios/firmware.

We will be adding the SAM 460cr to our webstore this week too.

Two months have elapsed since this was posted.
Any update?

Cheers

@duga

A "suggestion" without a technical reasoning isn't much worth

If CL6 is suggested because nothing faster will have a benefit, it's useful to know this.
If this is the only thing that has been TESTED, it's useful to know this also.

I am willing to bet that the DDR2 controller is set up as CL6 always, as I have a fair bit of DDR2 experience in UBoot. But it should be possible to change the registers. If ACube wants. I'll even help. I have 14 weeks of paternity leave coming up and it ain't exactly looking like there's any skiing to be had this year either.

This weeks pet peeve:
Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean.

Sounds very good. You have of course already contacted ACube?
