@BigD

Some countries get the "stand by" message.

Not everyone.

Oh right so it's working for you is it? Fair play to the Amsterdam guys as they actually outputted a stream that everyone could view even though it was buggy and kept buffering and cutting out. This Californian thing is ridiculous Only Amiga makes it possible (if you live in the right country )!

No.I'm just gathering input from other countries.

And before you place too much blame on the show promoters, let's see what message other countries are reporting.

One user in Germany, for example, reports:

Quote:
live streaming not possible in Germany due to legal problems

I just think the way the stream link with a testing function that was set up PRIOR to the start of the Amsterdam celebration was a far better way of doing things. I feel completely excluded from this "official" celebration now. How difficult is it to stream video in this day and age especially if the Kickstarter stretch goal for this was reached. It just needed some planning.

I mentioned we are going to stream the show. We are going to try. We hit a snag with the internet at the museum which give us great doubt about the quality of the connection. We ever I will try to make it happen but I'm warning people now. When we started the kickstarter we needed $12,000 to guarantee streaming. If we got a few thousand in donation ticket sales on the eventbright page in the next 24 to 48 hours we might be able to get what we need to pull it off. Otherwise I can't make any promises at this point.

I think the correct interpretation of this would be that the guarantee was not met, no?

If by "stretch goal" you mean the extra money, I have no idea. I would think that if that goal had been met, there would have been a visible AW posting update thanking contributors or something similar. Let's also try to remember that they were forced to leave the museum very early last night and admittedly very much behind in setup. That might likely be their focus atm.

Fine at least we now know where we stand. What I saw from the website was

Quote:
When we launched the Kickstarter campaign we set a stretch goal to stream the show live. With help of our sponsors and dogged determination, we are going to give it a try. Had we raised the funds for the stream, we’d planned for it to have been professionally produced.

Since we can’t bear not sharing this great event with the world, we will are working to set up live, Amiga-compatible streaming for everyone. Please stay tuned as we will release more details as they get worked out over the coming weeks.

No update was given so we were left in the dark. I can see from having re-read the first paragraph that you are correct that the stretch goal wasn't reached and they weren't able to do this professionally. Sad

@BigD

Bill was told access to to the net for streaming the show changed from something like $300 to $3000 just a few days before the show. Mountain View, CA is in the heart of Silicon Valley, very expensive & companies can write off expenses on their taxes, not so for private shows, so prices are sky high.

I suggest everyone do some homework about what it takes to put on a show, the cost & free time ppl give up to do the work before they bitch from their comfy chair about any free streams not happening or bad.

If we needed to pay $5 each for streaming I'm sure a lot of people here would have pitched in. Donating towards a Kickstarter campaign for an event that you can't attend is different to paying a small amount for a streaming service. This takes nothing away from all the effort put in to put the show on but this event is now definitely for the classes and not the masses which is about as anti-Commodore as you could get IMHO

Donations were suggested to get the extra money up, had 3 days to get the money, didn't happen.

I live 45 min away from the show site, I can't afford a rich mans town to attend 2 days, but plan on going Sunday for one day to see all my Amiwest friends that showed up.

Have fun!

@Thread

Shame the sound was mute at the start but the RJ Mical bit was good and the stream is rock solid. Good work. Thank you very much Bill Borsari.

@Massi Thank you so much for this! I am going to be in Rome on August 10-12. I now know another place I will be visiting.

Awesome!

So I manage to attend what I feel might be the last big Amiga show, if it was then we went out on a high, it was great to just walk around the show seeing and hearing voices you recognise from Amiga past and to see so many of the early prototype that have survived all this time is amazing. Thank you to all the people involved making this show happen and thank you to so many of the original Amiga guys attending.

Also win a copy of Amiga Forever & C64 Forever 30th Anniversary edition, just comment on the youtube vid for your chance to win, I will pick a winner on Friday. thanks
