I wonder what the requirements are on OSX PPC or x86 version ?

UPDATE:
System Requirements
Minimum (most games will be unplayable slow)
Windows/Linux OS
CPU: Any that supports SSE2 (Pentium 4 and up, Athlon64 and up)
GPU: Any that supports Pixel Shader model 2.0, except Nvidia FX series (broken SM2.0, too slow anyway)
512MB RAM (note Vista needs at least 2GB to run reliably)
Recommended
Windows Vista / Windows 7 (32bit or 64bit) with the latest DirectX
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.2 GHz or better OR i3/i5/i7 @ 2,8 GHz or better OR AMD Phenom II @ 3,2 GHz or better
GPU: 8800gt or better (for Direct3D10 support)
RAM: 1GB on Linux/Windows XP, 2GB or more on Vista / Windows 7

No PPC yet ...?

...
Anyway to be usefull we would need 2Ghz+ CPU and RadeonHD and OpenGL2.0 etc...?

@Trewq

Even with a modern graphics stack, emulating a PS2 would be hopeless on the current hardware. The 6th generation is out of the question.

no ps2 on macppc
all devs make the jit for x86...

We can hope in Nulldc360 the dremacast emulator or some other ported to Xbox 360 ... this because the 360 have ppc cpu ... but the gap here is the video graphic

n64 and some other from 360 too...

Is need a good programmer because swap the call for the libxeon to the amigaos api

Other emulator can one day ported are

Yabause (sega saturn)

the Libretro Super (emulators compilation n64, dreamcast, psp and old 8/16 bit)
can be found on git hub and is working on my G5
if use sdl and is full gcc 4.2 compatible.

probably:
supermodel 3 rev 0.2a if some one integrate the sh4 from some other emulator (because here too for x86)
same as lxdream

... in any way im pretty sure Libretro is one of the best canditate for amigaos

Saturn has the same problem as the PS2, it has complex hardware (4 CPUs, 2 VDPs and a sound processor). It's rather CPU-intensive to emulate.

Really? You woke up screaming that? Interesting.

But, shouldn't we aim now for a PS3 emulator?

IIRC, only has 256MB RAM, not-fully optimised compiler can mean not all cores or featires of CPU used, so we can have a fast Cell to PPC JIT emulator.

Better run AmigaOS4 on a PS3 (FSuae on linux).

Good for me I didn't fall down that trap door...

I can really understand that imaginary Amiga machine that is 100% incompatible with real Amiga computers called Amiga1 and uses a very strange and almost not used CPU is giving you nightmares.

@Hillbillylitre

Nobody's claiming that AmigaOne's are 68000 based Amiga's I think

We just use Amiga as a generic term for a machine running AmigaOS.

So in our case when we say e.g. my Amiga is an A1-XE we're not making a connection with
the for lack of better words "dumb", purely hardware Amiga platform (games bypassing OS) but the AmigaOS platform.

Because Amiga Next Generation/One or Sam/Pegasos or compatible is a tong twister

@BSzili

however it could be interesting to see a Saturn emuator on Amiga side (OS4, MOS and AROS) to see the general performances.
i think that on AROS shouldn't be problems

Then just talk about AOS4: Software XYZ for AOS4. Simple.

The problem is that 'the Amiga' sounds as if you're referring to Amiga computers and not the OS.

Saturn or Dreamcast ... saturn was emulated on ppc on yabause on quad run really well on one core of G5 dreamcast will be for sure problematic...

but Bzili you are the expert .
in any way check the libretro super it is really good working on quad (only one core used)

https://github.com/libretro/libretro-super

@Thorham

Beware, my English sucks

Quote:

Yep, I know that and sure, why not ?
I get that calling your peecee an Amiga sounds very wierd since it is actually 100% incompatible
But on the software side, if you use it to run AmigaOS (thru emulation), then in my context it works.
Amiga as in machine that runs AmigaOS, Amiga as in your machine to run AmigaOS.

Quote:

Not quite sure what you're trying to tell me
Yes, my machine is an XE which the whole Amigaworld knows by now
I was talking in general, since I think that there are some who thinks the same way
when using "Amiga" for AmigaOS machine

Quote:

Not always that simple I think, when talking about software that works, but what do you call the machines that run AmigaOS which aren't offical 68k Amiga's then ?
I suppose "AmigaOS machine" but it isn't short and sweet as Amiga, Mac or PC

Quote:
he problem is that 'the Amiga' sounds as if you're referring to Amiga computers and not the OS

Totally agree, 'the Amiga' is unmistakingly the 68K machines nowadays

Well, it may seem "cowardly" (are we arguing ?) from me, but I think that it would be better
if we stop talking about this, the thread may get off-topic and it isn't very important is it ?

Sorry for going off-topic newlight

@Trewq

Its not AmigaOS but AmigaOS4. AmigaOS4 is not compatible with Amiga Computers, they are however compatible with PPC expansion cards, but still not the computer. If you run OS4 on an PPC co-processor in an Amiga computer OS4 disables the 68K CPU and then you need to emulate the Amiga computer, on the expansion card.

No other Amiga OS do that, on my AmigaOS3.x the PPC works alongside the 68060 CPU and therfore I dont have to use an Amiga emulator on my Amiga 1200.

I really can't see it your way and to me your mind is completely twisted.

But if I twist my mind like yours is my PC with XXXX OS also an Amiga, only difference is that my imaginary Amiga and OS has a well supported CPU, the OS has multi-core and 64bit support unlike OS4, and it has a software library several thousand times as big as your Amiga PC, a huge software library just like the real Amiga had.

But that is a twisted mind, so what you think is an Amiga is just a very crappy PC.

@tlosm

Sure, but that's on a G5. Now try to run Yabause on a Sam for example. It would even struggle on a Pegasos II, I think. But don't take my word for it, just fire up a linux distro on any of the aforementioned machines, and see if you can get a stable 50/60Hz refresh rate.
Compared to the Saturn, the N64 has a simple hardware. It's only the matter of getting the dynarec to work. The bottleneck there could be the graphics plugin, a new Warp3D one might have to be written.

Not really. I just bought it up because it doesn't seem like a good idea to throw everything on the Amiga pile, that's all.

yes and the strange no n64 emulator is good working on AmigaOs and jaguar or 3DO too.
if you have time gave a try on Libretro i think it will gave a good change to amigaos and support well powerpc hw from Desktop (apple and not) to ps3 to x360 to wii and mobile

Strange for Jaguar..
I think it's not so hungry of sytem resources

@BSzili
You can port PS2 emu for AROS to see if there good performances.
With AROS at least there is Gallium 3D..

jaguar is more resouce hungry compared the N64 or PsX ... but can perform good on mid hands amiga
3d0 work fast on VirtualPc in emulation on Powermac G5 and in software rendering ... for sure will be good on Amiga...
