Did I read it has only one SATA port? So, If I want GFX and more devices, no audio possible? |

The board Wolf is referring to only has x4 and x1 phyical slots. While you can get very low end x1 video cards or butcher more powerful cards to fit the x4 slot, it's unlikely that many user would be comfortable with either solution. |

Why qould you lose audio? Besides, I think you can run SATA over Ethernet(it has 4 10 GB/s ports), and I believe there is also flash storage supported onboard. _________________

Apologies for the error but you're still stuck with the same situation regardless. |

Well, USB is a possibility, but why not use the x4 slot? What else exactly is needed except a GFX card and an audio card? If OS is supporting onboard Ethernet, there is no shortage of ports/slots... Last edited by WolfToTheMoon on 06-Oct-2015 at 08:47 PM.

Would you fancy doing this to fit a $200 video card in your x8 slot?

Are you sure? I got a t4240-QDS kit less than two weeks ago... The more expensive one... I haven't even had time to plug it in yet.Last edited by billt on 06-Oct-2015 at 09:21 PM.

you don't necessarily need to do that... there are "open-ended" x8 slots that can take x16 cards without any problems... some boards have them, some don't. _________________

So you either cut the slots and lose warranty or get Freescale to do a small (read expensive) run of boards with open slots. |

How recently was it discontinued? Did I get the last one? I ordered about a month ago, I'm not even yet to the advertized 8 weeks lead time to delivery yet, but it came earlier than I expected.
I pondered for a while the RDS one, but decided that I did want more PCIe than that. _________________ All glory to the Hypnotoad! |

If I were king, all motherboards would have open-ends for smaller lane slots, and nothing in the way behind them... Or to use x16 plastics even if only some lanes are connected. (I've never seen anything with a x32 connector anywhere, so don't see any need to standardize on bigger than x16) I don't understnand why to "force" matching lane cards or the use of extra adaptors, which may or may not make things too tall for the case..._________________ All glory to the Hypnotoad! |

it's cheaper and perfectly safe to cut the pins from the cards(if the boards does not have open x8 slot). It's been done numerous times on PCs, it works, no problem. _________________

Linux Software Rasterizer on the Sam460ex is ok under LXDE and Mate. Only Lubuntu 14.04 seems sluggish.Newer Lubuntu versions are ok. As is Debian.
Kernels support the Sam460ex onchip memory and dma engine .

Btw.. Is it true hat Linux runs faster than morphos on a Sam460? Crazy..
