| I'm just uploading an update to blender.
This new version is still based on the 2.48/9 codebase but has been adapted to work with the latest version of ffmpeg 3.0.2. This required some significant reworking of the blender side of the code, as well as bit of massaging of the libavcodec etc to get them to build in blenders builds context.
AS before I've inlcuded two versions of libbffmpeg.so in the sobjs drawer, a generic one that's good to go, and an altivec version which needs renaming to libbffmpeg.so before use.
I started this update because having bought a new phone I found that blender couldn't load the 4gb sized videos the phone could produce and even when trying smaller samples only video and no audio would load.
It can now load a 4Gb #.3gp H264 encoded video with AC encoded audio! Plus an awful lot more....
All encoding options are support except H264 and XVID (this was no loner supported by ffmpeg, use MPEG-4(Divx) instead) and mp3.
I may build these in later if there is demand.
After about 70 hours of work fighting some stupid coding problems, design issues and occasionally missing the obvious because I ought to have gone to bed, I can't be bothred to rebuild again just at the moment
It's in the upload queue at the moment if you dowload from it's normal location please check for version 248.5 (June 2016 update)
Have fun...

Is there any chance to bring a current version of Blender to AmigaOS? Since 2.49 there are so many changes especially in the GUI + Shortcuts that much tutorials do not work. Also Plugins and file Formats are different.
I wish i could do my 3D Models for our next games on AmigaOS, i tried it but it is not possible with the older versions.
Blender would be for me a big feature for productive work on AmigaOS!

Blender 2.77 currently needs OpenGL 2.1 plus shaders and other fetures to take full advantage of all features.
I don't think minigl is up to that? and OpenGL ES isn't suitable also, though I belive there is / was an android port that convert parts of the game engine to OpenGL ES the main GUI needs OpenGL. 2.8x will need OpenGL 3.1 apperently.
It needs python 3
Cycles needs OpenCL

What exactly makes it impossible?
I've loaded blender prjects from my port in my linux version running 2.63 (admittadly even that is aging a bit now) and not had issues, except for matierials that used light emmissivity didn't seem to work the same way.
The biggest factor is I donl;t have the time, this ffmpeg update (which is now more advaned than the 2.,77 version BTW ) took all week wioth me doing nothing else, a full port of the later versions would take a good deal longer.
Some else is more than happy to try, perhaps my assessment is wrong and it's an easier job and more would work...

| Good news, but there is a down side to the new ffmpeg, ffmpegGUI doesn't like it & says so on startup. Maybe it still works ok, its bitch window goes away if you OK it.

This has nothing to do with blender, blenders has a custom build of libffmpeg (which I name libbffmpeg.so to avoid any accidental confusion )
I've been using ffmpeg gui for chacking the output of blender and it stil works with the more recent ffmpeg build.

libbz2.s0.1.0 should be in sys:sobjs/ libbffmpeg.so is in blender/sobjs/. There are two versions in there, if you need the altivec version delete libbffmpeg.so and rename libbffmpeg.so.altivec to libbffmpeg.so _________________ OS4 Rocks X1000 beta tester, Sam440 Flex (733)

Yes, a Google Summer of Code project ported the Blender Game Engine to OpenGL ES.
While Warp3D Nova probably isn't ready for something like Blender yet (working on it), OpenGL ES isn't necessarily a barrier. There's a project called Regal which may be able to bridge the gap.

Morphos port? This thread wandering a tad off topic, to bring it back, here's an excerpt from the video I needed to edit, that caused me to create this update.
https://youtu.be/USr6e5BxV5s
Edited in the new blender the original was cut from a 4G-1 byte video in .3gp format withh AAC audio, recorded by my phone, which would not load until now.
Titles created in SketchBlock, naturally.
A saner person might just have used the linux version, but if Iwas that same I wouldn;t be using an Amiga....

Just uploaded a new build which fixes a couple of issues with the reworked Audio code and another I happened to stumble acrss whilst using blender to test the JPeg2000 SketchBlock exporter output.
248.6 (September 2016 Update)
o When rendering videos from the sequencer, the audio would not reset to the start of the section being rendered, but continued on from the last section played, FIXED o Some types of audio file did not play as Audio(HD) (notably WAV files) as the codec did not set the channel_layout for them, now set to AV_CH_LAYOUT_STEREO or AV_CH_LAYOUT_MONO for 2 and 1 channels when not explicitly set by the codec. o The JPEG2000 import code took the wrong channel for the alpha part (original bug)
