| Ok, this is the most striking post i've seen on this site so far, so I thought I would break my status as 'lurker'. :)
When I first read this I immediately dismissed it as being a lie. The way it was stated was as if the writer assumed it to be an obvious and known fact, which is simply not the case and the writer knows this. Plus, if they wanted to convince people that they weren't fibbing for fibbings sake, they ought to have elaborated a bit.
From some feedback I have seen so far on this subject (Kay mentioned them) I am not so sure, but if it were true it was clearly not meant to be disclosed, or Amiga would have done so already. If it isn't true, then bad on us. Either way, true or false, the news was a flagrant attempt to stir up FUD, because only a person with an IQ below 70 would fail to realise this is exactly what it would do. Thus, I don't trust the source, and am leaning in favour of it not being true. But hell, I wish they had just never said anything...

| After a bit of research I found there were a few CEO's involved in some way in the IT\computer industry. I doubt what was reported was true, but it could have been a mistake on the part of the story writer, a mistake by Bill Buck(he has had Amiga Inc on his mind lately). However as this is a joint statement, the chances that it is a mistake from the Genesi side seem reduced.
I dont think we need to get too worked up over this.It seems that somewhere a mistake has been made and I suggest we simply wait it out until someone can clarify the truth of this matter one way or another. _________________

| This SEEMS like FUD to me.
Always when something good is announced about Aone/Aos4, BBRV come out with something to take the limelight away from or tries to discredit it or the companies behind the products.
Aos4 advert turns up on Amiga.Org then days later this CEO is leaked out from Genesi. Its all about timing.
The link says its old news, why wait till now to say so, maybe cos the Aos4 ad had just come out and Aone-XE are starting to flow slowly, hoping to put ppl off untill Genesi get the beta peg2 board out.
Even if its all true its no business of genesi to announce Amiga.inc plans & dealings.
And so what if there is a new CEO, big deal as its old news anyway, what change have any of you noticed about Amiga.inc lately that is negative to what they have been doing before.
Thats like microsoft reporting on all of Apples dealings all the time & apple reporting on microsofts every dealings and you could bet that the reports would never be about the good things that each other is doing.
The Fact is we all know what part amiga.inc plays in the Aone/Aos4 project, but many out side the amiga circle do not.
Harm Amiga.inc's image & that could harm sales of Aone/Aos4 as the world still looks for the lead company for info, even tho we know that Aone/Aos4 will contunie with out Amiga.inc many out side do not.
If Aos4 comes out with out Amiga.inc mentioning it then most likely many of the non amiga sites will not pick up on it.
How often do you see Pegaos/Mos reported about on non amiga sits compaired to Amiga and yet Genesi already have the pegasos/MOS on sale for quite some time.
Its what Amiga.inc do when Aone/Aos4 is out that really matters & nothing else.
Edit are my posts getting any better from my very low writing standard of the norm ?. _________________ PowerTower A1200, 060/80Mhz, Heatsink & Fan, 66MBRam, PowerFlyerGold, 50xCDRomdrive, 250Zip, 2.1 |

You and me both. How can he assume that it was public knowledge when a quick check on AmigaINCs website shows no announcement to such end?_________________

| since it got moderated to NEWS at ann, im guessing that the moderators did get some sort of confirmation ? Why would Christian or Teemu moderate it to news if its Buck's BS ?
but nothing can affect OS4 :) |

| Well, this latest update has got me somewhat flabberghasted. I thought that when a public company (i.e. one that has shareholders) that a change in the CEO had to be announced in some fashion by law, at least to the stock exchange.
In any case, Amiga Inc. need to reply to this very soon, to either confirm or deny it. _________________

| If the change was done some time (2 weeks) ago, why it hasn't been told before? Not very open approach towards community, again. |

| If this is true it's really up to Amiga Inc. to announce if they have a new CEO right away. If they don?t they give their competitors the chance to spread FUD. |

| (I think) Amiga Inc. has not been very "open" with information about their staff ... But I also don't see so much need for that ... If Bill McEwen (President) wanted a new Chief Executive Officer, then it is great that they got a new one ... I see no need to panic ... I trust their decision ... at least it is not Bill Buck (if it was, then I wouldn't trust Amiga Inc. anymore)! _________________ Best regards, hnl_dk - Henning Nielsen Lund [Denmark]

| I believe the intend and purpose for these rumour spreading by Mr Buck is very clear. My suggestion would be not to worry at all and wait for a reply from Amiga Inc the next couple of working days. |

Um, I think Bill McEwen is the CEO, actually ... A new CEO would mean he was replaced by someone else. Or?
Given that fleecy talked about them "Absolutely" buying back AOS4 from Hyperion in the future, it doesn't sound like much of the internal goals of AInc has changed at least, no matter if this statement is true or not. I find it interesting as to what kind of cooperation Genesi want with AmigaInc. I could understand the reasoning two years ago when MOS could have been AOS, since it really had no "official" competitor. But now? I doubt they would drop MOS anytime soon. But Hyperion is now (hopefully) towards the end of development, you can't expect them to give anything up to MOS, not freely. The only thing I can imagine is getting AOS4 licensed on the Pegasos (with terms that Genesi accepts)... Whereas I agree that some sort of cooperation between the competitors would be beneficial in a general sence, I find it hard to see that they could really work together practically. Which OS to push? They cannot realistically push both, not if they want to flow with the Amiga brandname recognition (which is AInc:s main bargening chip, I suppose). They would have to ditch one of the OS:es in favour of the other, which would be a mess (OK, they could try to merge them, but in effect that would still mean you are ditching one solution for the other. I doubt developers/company officials on either side would appreciate the politics, personal preferences and bad blood that would spring to the surface in that case...). And if they niche one of the OS:es, say AOS4 (or whatever it's name would be) into being specialised for, say, embedded devices and leaving only MOS ("AOS-MOS") for the desktop - well let's say it would not be very effective to manage (nor popular, I'd say).
... Not to mention old grievances, beefs and agendas betwen the camps on "grassroot level". It would not be a pretty sight. In summary, that's why I think any cooperation between MOS and AOS would be at most extended to minor licensing (AOS for Pegasos, perhaps allowance for MOS to use certain AA features and for AOS to use MOS drivers for example). A deeper collaboration would force one to start throwing stuff away. And that would rip this tattered hobby scene to pieces completely. . SlimJim |
