Yep, thats correct!

Im not charging for the software, just development time,support as a subscription!

People who download can give a copy to anyone they like! and ask for the source code.

I am going by the rules!

What he means is if anyone has bought this they are free to ask for source code, and distibute as they wish... as its all based on opensource material. And is reall just a self booting linux disk that boots into MOL immediately, quite usefull if you just want to use MacOS rather than Linux (and boot straight too it without Linux taking forever to boot first )

I Would of like to change the name for amigaone owners, but i have an legal agreement with Genesis and freescale for development on Pegasos 2 - so i must NOT change the name.

It still requires linux to run MOL, but once you have it setup you can do a automatic booting into MOL, without even relising thats its running linux!.

I need 2x Tech savvy (used linux and compiled a kernel) to beta test an Amigaone version.

With enough interest i will continue development

thanks

The live CDROM which can boot the PEGs as MAC without booting first into Linux apparently works on A1 too.
But due to no response from A1 users, further development for A1 has been stopped.

Check this page fro more infos.

I never knew that it existed and so didn't know that it can boot on A1s.

Perhaps we could convince the programmer to continue A1 support.

If it really works I would like to have one, would be cool to show MAC users a µA1 running MAC apps.

What I would like is a version of knoppix that I can run on my A1, as I don't really want to go to the trouble of installing Linux on my A1 againnow that I have OS4, but wouldn't mind an easily accessible CD version of Linux that I can use for either OpenOffice or Mozilla.

I'm really interested in your distro. I would pay for it, but i need it working and usable

Thanks.

MacOnAmiga 'MOA' would really kick some serious butt! It would be THE thing for us that would like to have MacOS running on our A1's withouth having to install Linux. I Hate Linux. I reformated my drive as soon as I got the AOS4 CD. How hard would it be to port MOL? Is it depending a lot on Linux? Well, I see new µA1 owners everyday, some of them just gotta be coders, so I will continue dreaming of an OS4 native MOL. (MOA)

I've read that it would be very difficult to port MOL on AOS4 since it relies heavily on Linux, it would be easier to start from scratch. Who knows, maybe Christian Bauer (of Shapeshifter fame) is going to buy an A1 :)

BTW hi Spot, sorry for having been disappeared lately :)

Just to clarify, I've got nothing against it and think its quite a usefull service, and the support model you are using is fairly common (similar to mysql and the like). I was just explaining Ross' comment to Aldur

@ikir

like for like, no loss in speed at all

For graphics api, theres no 3D - so opengl games dont work!, but i personally have had quake 1 and 2 works in software mode, roughly about 85FPS, at 1024x768 (G4 1ghz Pegasos 2) not bad for an emulator!

Given the fact that MacOnLinux is nothing else but an application running on Linux, Linux must be booted first, so I don't really understand why you do not have to wait for Linux booting first ?

He said "taking forever to boot". A full blown linux distro will start tens of services before being ready to be used, whilst PegXLin doesn't have to.

@falemagn

Linux does take some time to boot, but my A1 does boot Debian faster than my P4.
Heck, even Windows boots faster than Linux on my P4

@EntilZha

the operative words were "taking forever to boot" ie its the minimal kernel/drivers etc that are needed to boot/run MOL and as such should boot quicker than the full default install as provided on A1's (at least as far as I'm aware)!

@falemagn

A Linux install is what you make it. It doesnt have to take a long time to boot if you install a basic system. The default Debian install for example, does not typically run a bunch of useless services and boots fairly quickly.

Regards.

Is it required a dedicated partition for runnig MOL on debian linux ?
What size ?

Can it run nicely on a MicroA1 ?

for your work...
