@g01df1sh

Gratz :)
If you don't plan to code the driver yourself I'm sorry to say that ATI native gfx is a no go. Old Nvidia and Intelgma is what is working. If you get hold on a ACER Aspire one 110 you will have native gfx both in 2D and 3D. For sure not the fastest around but still fun.

@nikosidis

Hi yes I have been looking at the aspireones but would like a bigger screen. I have another Compaq laptop to try but it did not like the Wifi card I have. Its the right model but due to Compaq arsehole bios it wont let me use it. I have seen some HP ones on ebay that might work as Compaq and HP are the same company as such. This laptop has intel GFX I believe so sould have more luck with it.

I have one 1.7Ghz Sempron CPU laptop with Nvidia fx5200go, just in case I one day fancy to try to get AROS/Amithlon running on it with HW accelerated GFX.
(Never got linux 3D accelerated on it, though)

Does anyone have AROS 3D acceleration working on fx5200go? IIRC, there was support for it on some old release.

@KimmoK

Never tried myself, but there's a reasonable chance it will work.
The nvidia driver supports gf fx series of GPUs and often mobile variants also work (even when part of core logic, not just dedicated GPUs).

@goldfish

The Compaq presario v6xxx series of laptops are OK. 15.4 inch screen, supported nvidia gfx, supported intelhd audio, and an athlon64/turion64 CPU.
Not the worlds best machine, but a heck of a lot better than the aspire machines, and cheaper.

I'm personally of the opinion things like the aspire ones and eee PCs are a double edged sword. Nice to know they're supported, but very few people checked other options once the learned these were supported.
There's much, much better machines out there with full support.

@fishy_fis

Not so happy days. System is not stable am scrapping using this laptop for aros now. I have order atheros WiFi card for my other laptop with Intel gfx to try. Will update when my WiFi card turns up. If only there was faster progress with that open source ppc laptop project . We could then have os4 on a laptop in 5 years once Hyperion have done the port lol

@g01df1sh

Are you running AROS hosted or on bare hardware?

Got this Acer tower nearly going to trash it.

Maybe a try if an USB stick installation possible.

Win7 went there but the usage like asked before is no more needed. The Normal case, parents bought a new laptop. Long Live Windows 10 or whatever...
