LOL a moron! I don't think so. If you were a moron, we wouldn't be enjoying the renaissance of the Amiga.

Exactly. And from your "MorphOS rocks" comments on Amiga.org I reckon you aren't even interested.

EntilZha and Rogue, please be aware that NicoPPC is a Pegasos/MOS user.

I have had to moderate one of his comments already vfor trolling, admittedly his latest comments on here are just snipping, so I`ll leave it be.

Just so that you are aware where his agenda is

@NicoPPC

Please, if you don't know the facts then don't post. That's all I'll say - let's not let this thread degenerate...

@EntilZha

Great to see you back round these parts - keep up the great work with OS4, and may the force be with you

They could release PEG 3 and MOS 4000 for all I care, I`m not buying a Peg/MOS combo.

But if that`s what you want, fine by me

"They could release PEG 3 and MOS 4000 for all I care, I`m not buying a Peg/MOS combo"

Nice to see an open mind

Actually, I think some of the comments and put-downs have been a bit harsh (although I fully understand the sensitivity of Hyperion).
I am an A1-XE owner who bought it on the understanding (as advertised by Eyetech) that AOS4 would be released in Jan/Feb 2003. Whenever anybody posted that 'in their view' AOS4 would not be ready till Easter/Summer/Autumn/Winter 20003, each time they were told to shut up because they knew nothing. The one thing missing was an actual projected release date. It's still missing. So I've actually had more accurate information from the 'those who know nothing' than I have had from the A1/OS4 producers. That's the big problem

It's not really important if he's a MOS user or not. If Fleecy would have posted this, I would have corrected him as well (No offense, Fleecy )

My big problem with such posts is just that there's a guy who doesn't know what he's talking about. That doesn't prevent him from commenting, though. This is, sorry to repeat that over and over again, the main problem in the Amiga community today.

You'll never see me (nor ever saw me) making comments about MorphOS. I can't, because I don't know anything about it. It's a courtesy I would like to see from other people as well.

I'm also against moderating such comments. There's no personal offense in what NicoPPC said. There's a thin line between moderation and censorship (no offense, again, to anybody), therefore it's better to reserve moderation to extreme cases of trolling and offense.

However, I decided I can't let it stand as it is, without comment. Good thing this is possible in forums.

I don't think so. I just said that he doesn't know what he's talking about, and he even admitted that.

So where have I been harsh ?

I understand where you are coming from Entilzha, however, the reason I moderated Nico`s comments on another thread was because, he baited everyone then trolled to the point that war would have broken out on that thread.

Having said that I don`t moderate for the sake of moderating, this site has rules and guidelines like everywhere else, break them and you get moderated.

Coming on to AmigaWorld posting pro MOS/Anti-Amiga sentiments is like going to the Manchester United home supporters stand, wearing an Arsenal shirt and booing the home side. Suicidal!

Lets be honest here, everyone knows what the motivation behind posts like these are. They can be phrased in a constructive way, or an inflammatory way.

NicoPPC, you need to be a little more sensible about how you construct your argument.

@Thomas and Hans-Joerg:

Do you have an estimation on how long the work on graphics.library will take? In other words, how far off do you estimate from being able to boot on A1?

But they don't *know* nothing.

The fact that we still haven't released it doesn't make any claims of a release date from anyone (including myself) any more justified. Fact remains that NicoPPC doesn't have any idea about the state of the project, and therefore is in no position to comment on it. Fact is that no one except those that work on the project know where we are.

In any event, the only people that could try to state a release date is the developers working on it.

I have stated before that we are trying to complete it against all odds. It has taken far longer than expected, true. Therefore I have not stated any more release dates because I feel I cannot make an estimate. This sure as hell means that the others can't either. This includes all the "specialists" that have told numerous times that we will *never* make it, or that our emulation concept couldn't work, or that we where in for a "big surprise" when trying to do this and that.

All release dates had the tag "expected". You make up these dates based on the current progress and based on your projected timeline. You overshoot timelines because of a lot of factors. For starters, most people working on OS 4 are not full-timers. Secondly, you have to pay your bills and divert into other projects to actually make a living. You tend to overestimate one part and underestimate another part.

Bottom line is: Yes, it's not out yet. Yes, there is still work to do. No, I'm not giving a release date. But sure as hell other's can't give you one either, or have any rights to spread information based on - nothing. That's exactly what NicoPPC knows about it. His comments clearly show that.
Just look at what he says is a problem: Timer.device. That was a two/three day job, the result is a binary that runs on all systems without modifications. Big deal.

OK, and now if I'm spared, I would like to go back to work. You see, at the end of the day, I'd like to have a certain result

I'd rather not speculate.
