GoldED blowout sale

In about two weeks, the next version of GoldED will be released. Due to the fact that the name of the software has changed from GoldED Studio to Cubic IDE ("An integrated development environment that includes GoldED8") - some packaging material is now obsolete. If anybody is interested: the remaining GoldED Studio AIX items can be purchased at a steep discount, 25 EUR rather than 69,90 EUR. The catch is that, at this price, items are not upgradeable. In interested, use this contact form to reserve an item. Numbers are limited.

@dietmar
Can you comment on this from your website? (from C++ package September 10th)

This release changes integration with the OS4 SDK: an installed OS4 SDK is now used (and required). Support for OS4 cross development ends with this release, the SDK is no longer included.

Also, is there a changelist for the new release? Is this a standard upgrade for existing customers, or an additional $ purchase?

I'll just post the answer to a similar email question (I hope you don't mind).

--- cut

> This new C/C++ mode (4.6), it says that an installed OS4 SDK is used and required, what does that mean??

It means that you have to download the OS4 SDK from Hyperion's web site and install it.

> Does it mean that if you don't have it you can't update the C/C++ mode??

If you update the C/C++ mode and have an A1, the old GoldED-installed OS4 SDK is deleted and you are expected to install the new SDK. It's then accessed through its "sdk:" assign. You will loose access to GoldED's own compiler installations, ie. you won't get a vbcc cross-compiler setup (for OS4-PowerUP-MorphOS- etc.). Instead, you will get the SDK's own vbcc installation. If you are not an OS4 user, the GoldED-installed SDK is left where it is. But if you remove the C/C++ package and re-install it, you won't get the SDK back because it's no longer included.

> Any specific reasons as to why the OS4 SDK has been removed??

It's obsolete and I don't have the new SDK nor the motivation to get it. It was a frustrating process to obtain the previous version and I can not be bothered to do that again. In the future, I'll only support SDKs that can be obtained easily and openly (no begging required).

----

Note that the items in this blow-out sale are still disks with the OS4 SDK (the last batch).

Improved plug-in system, as can be seen. The rest has hardly been touched. Plug-ins can be stacked (tabbed), can bring themselves to the front (if permitted by the user) to show "hot" content or change their size automatically, can be maximized to full screen, can have a configurable menu and can have two alternative sizes: The grey [] symbol togggles dimensions.

The time of standard upgrades (read: free) is over, sorry. This update will cost a small fee, as will future updates. It's just not possible anymore to finance development with new custmers alone. The price will reflect the time gone into it: Small update, small price and vice versa. Most will have the price of a burger, to give an indication.
