@Thematic

It might help to reduce the number of textures, or use texture reduction if you can live with the somewhat ugly result.

However, the main reason for slow performance is due to some games constantly updating their textures. I tried to fix this by only uploading the modified parts of the textures, but as it turned out, the W3D fuction to update a part of a texture actually always makes a full update. Maybe I could work around that by directly poking in the texture in VRAM (and handle all colorspace conversion myself), something I haven't tried yet.

@AmiDog

That does reinforce my supposition, that Driver 2 would run superslow with a Radeon 9200, too (after pre-upd 4).

You can easily verify if it's the texture uploading that's making it crawl. Just press F9 to enable the verbose output and have a look at the instructions to see what each value means. The number of replaced textures really should be zero most of the time, if not, it will run slow.

@AmiDog

Is there a chance that the public get the latest FPSE version that has been in the hand of beta testers for about a year now?

I really would like to use my joypad with FPSE.

Thanks,
Firbodi

@Toaks

I'm just wondering why FPSE is not released after being tested by some people for a long time. I'm sure there should be a good reason for it, however, I can't guess what it is.

Hope to see a release soon. Playing some of the PSX games with keyboard is not that much fun.

Firbodi

PS: I'm not sure sending the respected author an email would help, but I'll try that. Hope I don't annoy them with my email.

@firbodi

I'm not in the position to decide when a release should be made, that's up to LDChen to decide, and he still has a few things on his todo-list...

@Mr. LDChen

A new version of FPSE with AmigaInput support would make a nice Christmas present! Hint! Hint!

@firbodi

You are aware (I assume) that LDChen is probably not actually reading this forum don't you, as he coded FPSE for the PC (as I recall).

The last time I read anything about FPSE a few years ago, version 0.09 was the last public one, and 0.10 was internal to beta testers, with no definitive timeframe for a release, not to mention the timeframe between 0.09 and 0.10 would be pretty large
