I know. But I think we don't even have the latest update to 0.09, which should work with AmigaInput. The one that is public only supports the keyboard as input.
What I'm expecting is the latest 0.09 compile, or a joypad plugin.

You have the latest 0.09 compile. I never made an AmigaInput plugin for 0.09. |

Dear Amidog:
I admire your work a lot, because the emus you have done/ported and also because the great Amp. In a time where 680X0 users had no decent avi player, your program allow me to enjoy a lot of videos. So I will take this chance to thank you , you are the man!
And now a short question: I know it would be damn dog slow (for now), but: Could it be possible to port PCSX 2?
I repeat: I know it would veeerryyyyy slow, but if you could get to a state that it shows "something", it could help a bit pushing hardware developers to put better processors on their boards, and users to have another reason to enjoy their Amigas, and that's just taking aside the hugue amount of games we could enjoy in the long term

I had PCSX2 0.6 (I think it was) more or less ported some time ago, but it was very slow. I didn't even try anything but a few homebrewn demos and the BIOS. I guess writing a recompiler for it could improve things somewhat. It would still be too slow to be of any fun though.
But once I have gotten the FPSE 0.10 release out the door, who knows what I'll do next |

I don't know how much work it would be to backport the plugin from 0.10 to 0.09, but in any case, I would much rather get 0.10 released ASAP... |

Wow, so you started the job already. Great!!
The new version 0.9.4 improve speed a lot (since v.0.6 the speed gain is incredible), so maybe it will not perform as desastrous at it could sound
You can bet that when you release it, even you advice it runs at 0.1 fps, many users will try anyway to test ps2 games on their Amigas (mmmmm, just writing that, sounds so sexy ), even they have to wait hours to load them. This is what pc users did when they tested previous versions of the emu.
So, I hope it is very interesting for you and we can see the ps2 emu in a not very long time.
Was porting 0.6 a very hard work?

There is a Warp3D plugin available for FPSE (it's available for the old 0.09 release too). However, it has some issues and the performance isn't the best. I don't remember if I tried it with Tekken 3 or not, should probably do that, but atleast Colin McRae looks nice at 800x600 and above...
Note: Currently Warp3D has broken (as in not working) linedrawing and doesn't support one of the four blending modes of the PSX (reverse subtractive), so certain games will always look wrong. I was once told it would be fixed/added, but it seems the plans have changed... |

Well, making a little endian application (x86) work on a big endian achitecture (PowerPC) is always a challenge. I problably spent like a week getting it to where is was when I abandoned it. The reason PCSX2 is a lot faster now is that more and more is getting compiled at runtime (JIT if you like). And a first port would be interpretive only (=much slower). If it's still possible to disable the compilers in PCSX2, you can get an idea... An emulator like PCSX2 can also benefit greatly from a dual/quad-core computer, something we wont be able to take advantage of until OS4 gets SMP (and suitable hardware). |
