| I played it right after updating OS4, all went fine, but now it doesn't! I get corrupted graphics or "Nightlong not installed correctly". I didn't mess with anything crucial since the first time I played it...
The game installer seems buggy, too, since I have to manually copy a few files. Is there an optimised installer? |

I can run Nightlong on update 4, but the graphics suffer from jagged edges. Would this be beacause the game is wanting a 15bit mode? |

I didn't have the patch... I did try searching for it, but couldn't find the downloads page on ClickBOOM's site, only found the publicity page... Duh. Now I have the file and will try the game again as soon as possible.

| Nightlong runs now, but I have to use the CD's. In my old system, I had copied everything to HD. Now it doesn't seem to work anymore, always asking for the CD. This warrants further analysis, though, as it may be solvable.
The only other problem is that if I switch to WB, when I return to the game, the graphics are now fuzzy. Very weird.

You have to add an
Assign Q:
to your user-startup. And when it asks you for Disk 2 or 3, just press enter.

The main player is surrounded by colorous pixel garbage. This probably is due to the 15bit mode thing. But it does not reduce the game play

I have the Q: assign commented out, but I did a manual assign prior to running the game.
As for the graphic garbage,I get something different to what you say. I get the heatwave effect, basically.Very annoying. |

Did you install the OS4fix from Steffen Häuser?
It solved the pixel garbage for me...
The problem i have is with the PPC full-video version of the game, it plays, but when the videos are playbacked i get a pause of some 4-7 seconds before it goes on and i suffer music and sfx loss after some videos. If i save and load the game from this state all is back to normal, of course, until some more videos come along. (That is with a Radeon9800, so no W3D!)
Played it through, nice game, but the final riddle is a mindbreaker |

Are you talking about a game patch or just the RTGmaster OS4 fix?
As I also see the problem under WinUAE with my ATI 9700 Pro and the non patched PC version of the game at a friends house it looks like a game engine but not an RTGmaster bug but any solution is welcome (even if I have to wait for new hardware or the classic version of OS4 to be released) as Nightlong looks excellent and I would like to be play it without having to purchase the PC version.
I currently have a Blizzard Vision card in my Amiga A1200Tower which dose not have the problem but I am just about to swap it for a Voodoo 3 PCI card so I am expecting to see the same problem as everyone else when I do.
Also I work round the CD name bug in a slightly different way from other people here I dismount my CD0: device and remount it as Q: as part of the start up script for nightlong.

Be sure to grab the OS4Fix for RTGMaster.libary from STeffen Häuser off Aminet
rtgP96.library 42.0 (08.08.1997) (08-Aug-97)
rtgAMI.library 43.0 (27.04.1999) (27-Apr-99)
rtgmaster.library 40.0 (08.08.1997) (08-Aug-97)
I had this pixel garbage problem a long time too, scrapped the game completely under upd3 and gave it another shot with upd4. The same happened. Then i leeched all of the updates i could get and say what, the OS4fix for >RTGMaster cured it. And i was 100% sure i already had it installed
@TrebleSix
Exactly my problem iwth PPCbig, loooong timeouts in movie playback and loosing sound and effects after movie is done Last edited by Raziel on 13-Mar-2006 at 01:33 PM.

| Hi @Raziel
I can't get started without a guru. I have no idea what the problem is. Run Program: "Lhx/lhx.exe x RAM:data1.lha "MyA1:Nightlong/"" Delete file "data1.lha" Copy file "data2.lha" to "RAM:". Run Program: "Lhx/lhx.exe x RAM:data2.lha "MyA1:Nightlong/"" Delete file "data2.lha" Copy file "data3.lha" to "RAM:". Run Program: "Lhx/lhx.exe x RAM:data3.lha "MyA1:Nightlong/"" Delete file "data3.lha" Copy file "speech1.lha" to "RAM:". Run Program: "Lhx/lhx.exe x RAM:speech1.lha "MyA1:Nightlong/"" Delete file "speech1.lha" Copy file "speech2.lha" to "RAM:". Run Program: "Lhx/lhx.exe x RAM:speech2.lha "MyA1:Nightlong/"" Delete file "speech2.lha" Copy contents of drawer "root" to "MyA1:Nightlong".
With the patch it still gurus'!

correct, though it used to play movies fluid so this is a new problem somewhere (os4) , i will look into it when i got the time.
ps:anyway i completed this game on both my 1260ppc with voodoo3 and on my a1 , wouldnt exactly call it slow or anything on both setups but then again its not supposed to be a fast game...its an adventure and not a shooter. (yes, i never bothered much with highres video on classic, people screaming about it beeing slow needs to get their heads checked for sure or just upgrade to faster hw (powervixxen anyone?) )

| An old topic comes back from long ago
Concerning Nightlong PPC, it appears that the sound trouble (sound stopping after a few minutes of gameplay) experienced with this version was never corrected, not even with the 1.2 PPC patch.
The only way to play it without sound problem is to use the 1.2 68k version which corrected this buge.
Too bad since the game plays very weel with the new WarpOSEmu and full screen movies.
I ask (never knows) but did someone manage to find a workaround concernig the sound bug of the PPC version?
Edit: Well, I just found the true corrected PPC version with the sound bug corrected :
