@Bean

I know you've got more than enough things to do, but any chance you could get playing OGG internet radio streams working. I listen to a radio station that is either in MP3 pro, OGG, or a few other formats. MP3 pro plays with MP3 decoders but you don't get full quality unless you have a pro decoder. Tunenet seems to assume that all streams are mp3.

Looking forward to seeing the new GUI etc in your december release.

Indeed - in fact I had a conversation about this with Curty (AAC plugin guy)
the other day. There needs to be a couple of changes to the player (but not
too many) and some tweaks to the plugin API to get this to work, but essentially
consider this as on the list. I'd like to support both OGG and AAC if possible.

Cheers,
Bean.

P.S. MP3 Pro is a different matter however, I think this is a closed Codec.

@Bean

Hi, thanks for your program.

Just three things.
1 - I would wish using text playlist and not only the format m3u used now.

2 - I would want to play my songs randomly.

3 - Is there any ting to do to keep my prefered internet radio whenever I launch TuneNet ?

Cheers,
Jesus

Sorry, for my impatience. I have just finished to read your thread and I read some answers to my questions !!!

Shame on me. I suppose that it is due to your excellent program

MH2's scripts, I think the "Start TuneNet wery simple" script might be what you're looking for.
Edit it and replace the script's channel with your own.

Good to know it's on the to-do list. I think you're right about mp3 pro, it's a closed standard.

But the decoder must be free, is it not? The encoder I guess would need a licence
with payment.

Free for winamp users. I have no idea how much you have to pay to get access to the specification. Of course, if some open-source developer reverse engineers it, that won't be an issue.

1. The extended M3U format is used to save station names and soon additional
song details with the list. However, TuneNet already supports loading bare
text files, so I'll add a preference to save as one also.

2. Not long now - this has been implemented as Shuffle Play in the internal
versions. It does not destroy the playlist order, but sorts out a new random
order in the background and plays to that.

3. As Thomaskid says there is a script to launch Internet Radio stations, or
you could set the icon type (deficons) on Radio Station PLS files to launch
TuneNet when clicked.

You'll be pleased to know the latest internal version saves and loads the
playlist last used automatically when quiting and starting TuneNet.

Further on down the line management of playlists will become far easier.

Cheers,
Bean.

MP3 Pro will play - but you are right the quality will not be as good as it will
treat it as a standard MP3 file.

I don't think we'll ever see an MP3 Pro plugin for TuneNet. Still... We'll
certainly see some new formats. I recently had to up the limit of plugins
TuneNet handles after a request!... as you'll soon see and hear!

Cheers,
Bean.

Hi cHaOs667,

Do you mean keep and maintain a record of Tunes from available sources
(Hard Drive, Network Drives etc..)? If so then the answer is yes.

I see it working as a glorified (compressed) playlist which can be easily
manipulated and accessed. A database of local tunes if you like. Ideally a
background task will make sure this is kept up to date automatically. ..and
the user should be able to easily populate other playlists from it.

It's on the huge list of things to do.

Cheers,
Bean.

GREAT!

Tunenet is my #1 Player for Internet streming radio and if this feature is realized it has good chances to become my #1 music player

@Bean

My suggestions:

- Multiselect and delete in playlist!
- Loading a default playlist file on startup.
- No flashing, or at least faster flashing "REC" indicator.

I don't have anything to add to your list, I just want to say that it's so refreshing
to see someone just pushing this really good player forward, listening too what
people wants, having a discussion about it and so on. It's just so rare in amiga world
and pretty much everywhere else! It's a nice piece of program as it's and it will
become a "must have" if you continue adding to the list ...

1/ Good idea. It won't make this coming version though.
2/ You can load a default playlist with the -playlist cli option (with or
without a GUI).

The newest internal versions automatically save and load a default playlist for
you.

3/ I quite like the flashing indicator, but I suppose an option should be made
available to the user in Prefs.. This is one of those items I'll add when I get
time.

@hotrod,
Many thanks for your kind words. Programming TuneNet is fun! ..and I like
a bit of feedback from users.

Cheers,
Bean.

Ok, by now you will know that the latest release (V0.84_64) was launched a
few days ago.

So far I have noted the following problems from here and other sites:

1/ MP3 tune information sometimes gets messed up.
-> This is caused by Unicode MP3 tags which are not handled by TuneNet.
I have just added some basic conversion support for unicode characters and will
include this in the upcoming service release.

2/ If the MPEGA library was not found by the MP3 plugin then a reaper would
appear.
-> Fixed for next service release.

3/ Auto Loading and Saving of playlists annoyed some people!
-> This has now become a preference item.

4/ A crash could occur if you tried to delete an item from an empty playlist.
-> I'm still unable to recreate this one, but I'm looking into it.

If you have any other bugs to report then please post here.

Thanks,
Bean.

Hi,

A new release of TuneNet can be found on the homepage (www.tunenet.co.uk) which fixes some issues with the last public release.

Although not perfect yet as there are still some remaining bugs, here is a list of what has been fixed:

V0.84.(72) - Alpha
* Fixed filename buffer corruption on auto save / load playlist
* Fixed crash on MP3 library missing.
* Fixed decode mode allocation for listers, which was always 3 bytes short.
* Fixed order in cleanup functions.
* Fixed docky lockup issues on OS4 Final (now a requirement because of this).
* Fixed Version string.
* Added AmiUpdate support.
* Added basic support for converting unicoded MP3 tags so they are viewable.
* Added basic info window (more to come).
* Started to add support for multi-threaded DB access.
* Added priority switch (Passive) in plugin API / TuneNet

This is a Work in Progress version (IE: Alpha).

Cheers,
Bean.
