@Bean
My brother has just returned to the Amiga scene and we had some deliberations over a few beers recently. TuneNet was a prime example of why I love the Amiga scene (note all scene includes all derivatives). It has been such a pleasure to watch this program develop, especially given you first simple intentions. More exciting is we know where it is going, hey, as a bonus. at this stage it is free!

Congratulations on your work. Thanks also to the other guys chipping in with plugins and graphical help.

With other projects such as Wookiecha, MPlayer, DvPlayer and Mindspace (to mention only a few) also following suit, 2007 is going to be a good year.

thanks
ace

Hi,

Sorry, the skinnable GUI isn't included in this version, just the Reaction GUI / skinnable Docky GUI and Command Line Interface.

FuZion and I have much work to do on the Skinnable GUI yet!

Cheers,
Bean.

@Bean

I'd like to get this great program to run on OS4 Final on AmigaOne SE but I get
a crash on startup. Below is the crash log. I loaded version from your web
site according to the instructions in your doc.

SYS:Extras/Utilities/Tunenet: v.8472
LIBS:threads.library 1.4
LIBS:mpega.library 2.4 (os4)

Sorry in advance if I have done/not done something stupid. Can you help me?
Thanks.

Nathan

@NathanH

Tunenet is crashing just after launch for me today too. No idea why.

I noticed this once before during the daytime in my timezone, worked later that evening. It seemed to have some trouble finding the "radio" stations.

Sorry about this. My fault.

The problem has only just shown it's light today as the shoutcast site has changed slightly.

I've fixed the problem and will release ASAP. - Just Testing -

@Bean

I have some suggestions to your great software.

* Add a "remember winpos" option, should remember the last used after close.
* Add a "save winpos" option, should save a user prefered position.
* Add a "remember winsize" option.
* Add a "save winsize" option.

When I play a MP3 track Tunenet shows "Station" & "Tune" in the info frame.
This is not correct when playing local stuff. Please change these strings when
playing local tunes/songs. Or atleast add both strings like; Station/Artist.
Also the Tunenet Info Window shows wrong information on local tunes.
"Station" seems to be "Artist" in the info frame. "Album" shows "Artist" in the Info
Window. Also "URL" shows "Album" in the Info Window.
Also the Tune tab (where you change volume and such things) shows "Album"
in the "URL" frame.

Could you not show more info about MP3's for example? Like WinAMP..

Otherwise great application. It's getting better and better by each version
Can't wait for the skinnable version.

I Guess this one is for SpotUP.
I have been trying out the GME plugin and so far AY, SPC, NSF, and SAP have worked ok but I have ran in to problems with VGZ and KSS files.
VGZ files don't seem to load at all TuneNet reports that its unable to open file, I have tried several files.
KSS files appear to load but but don't play, when you click on the tune tab the tracks display 1 to 255 and is constantly counting up.

@ Bean

Thanks for the bug fix, I thought it may be my machine again as its hard to tell whats at fault now days after recent events.

Indeed. I've got a pretty much default config here to develop with, just so I know whether it is really my app that causes the problem or not.

Cheers,
Bean.

@Arnie

the vgz error might be a problem on my part. try unarchiving the tune and see if it plays.
kss files should work, the problem is that it's common with bad rips, are your kss files accompanied by m3u files?
a correct rip should come with both files.

i sent a new version of libGME to curty a while ago, let's hope he finds time to update his plugin soon.

@Bean

Well, unfortunately I don't have an OS4 machine to run this one (or is there a 68k version?), but everything I hear and see about this program makes me want it.

Forgive me if these are already supported, but some ideas I've come up with that I'd like to see in the program (if they're not already there, that is) are:

The ability to change the order of the songs in the queue on the fly, very easily. I.e. by dragging and dropping within the list window and/or by selecting a song title and clicking an up or down arrow button.

The ability to specify a folderor folders for TuneAmp to insert (sprinkle) songs into the queue, with the ability to set an interval. Say, every X songs or every X minutes of play time, whichever comes first. This would be useful for someone running a shoutcast station to insert ads, station identifier jingles, and whatnot automatically into the stream.

The ability to select two or more playlists and have tuneamp then alternate/cycle between them. That is, play a song from one playlist (possibly at random), then play a song from the second playlist, and one from a third, then go back to the first playlist again. Or also be able to set it to switch the playlist at random. Do the same with folders, i.e. select one or more folders (albums) and have it randomly switch between these like it does the playlists.

The ability to have a folder, or playlist, that is called only at the end of the shoutcast stream. That is, a "going offline, see you later" playlist. Perhaps also set it so that one can set a time for the end of broadcast, so that TuneNet then automatically moves to the end-of-broadcast playlist at the appropriate time, or x-minutes before the time (so that it can finish the end-of-broadcast playlist at the hour on the hour rather than starting it at the hour on the hour). This could also be tied in with a keep-playing-songs-at-random feature, so that one could leave the shoutcast going (or even have it start automatically at a given time) and walk away from the machine, and know TuneNet will keep playing songs nonstop for however long the duration.

The ability, when you drag-and-drop a song onto the app-icon, to tell it "Play this song next in the queue."

Perhaps have the ability to create, on the fly, a seperate queue or playlist, via drag-and-drop, that isn't acted upon by TuneAmp until you tell it to, so that you can keep an existing playlist going, and then add the new one to the active queue when you're satisfied with it. Obviously, this kept-on-hold queue would also be easily rearrangable, that is, you'd be able to change the order of the songs in it as much as you like, easily.

I suppose that's enough for now...

Done ready for next release, though I've not added it as an option, it just does it regardless. (There is a way to reset it though). It would be good if Reaction could be extended in the future to do this automatically (like MUI).

Yeah - it's a bit mixed up at the moment - this will change.

TuneNet already rips many other tags, inlcuding embedded images - it's just not being displayed yet.

I gave a small demonstration of this today at a user group. Still lots more to do though.

Cheers,
Bean.

Well, unfortunately I don't have an OS4 machine to run this one (or is there a 68k version?), but everything I hear and see about this program makes me want it.

Thanks, at the end of the day it's just a music player, recorder and (basic) broadcaster but it does the job ok. There are plans to port the app to other platforms when it matures enough (V1?), but at the moment whilst in development it's going to stay on OS4. (Bean carefully avoids talk about available hardware).

The ability to change the order of the songs in the queue on the fly, very easily. I.e. by dragging and dropping within the list window and/or by selecting a song title and clicking an up or down arrow button.

You can already click a song and move it around the active list by highlighting and pressing navigation buttons, but I do want to extend this to at least cover keyboard control as well.

Automatic jingles. Yeah - that would be neat, I've thought about a short-cut jingle pad as well (like hit numeric keys to overlay sound effects etc..), but I guess I'd better get the MIC support in first. Ahem!

Calling FuZion - you're needed! - He is the expert on how TuneNet is going to handle additional Media libraries and playlists! This area is currently under review, I'll bear the above in mind.

Ok - I'll add it to the suggestions list. (I sound like I'm talking to my boss at work here )

The ability, when you drag-and-drop a song onto the app-icon, to tell it "Play this song next in the queue."

This is sort of in place already - it's in the preferences whether to play asap, or later, but it currently adds it to the end of the list. (Can be moved manually though after adding).

I suppose that's enough for now...

heh heh Never ending task this. Thanks for the suggestions, hope you are not dissapointed when you get to use it for real!

Cheers,
Bean.
