hahaha... really? Lucky you, none of my girls showed any interest in amiga |
Women see it as a threat. I remember one asked me: "Why do YOU call it Amiga (which means my girl friend)." I told her: "I didn't pick the name for it, and showed her the A1200 box to prove this to her! (Mine was in a tower, hence no names on the case). Imagine, I had to do that!

| 82 You don´t need to wait for booting down your system, while waiting for new automatic installations of softwareupdate(s)
Thats a really annoying thing under windows when you are very tired and want to go to bed before switching off the master/slave-lineplug.

Why not simply switch off automatic updates or change to scheduled ones (e.g. in the morning after booting)? |

if i turn it off, nevertheless windows xp takes much time to boot down/switch off-thats annoying enough and theres no reason on such a fast machine that excuses this. In cases i was impatient and just leave it alone, it was still running sometimes the next day with the "windows is shuting down..please wait"-screen -laughable!
I like the way my amigas did it - just switch off and turn on next day without a "missing NTLDR)-annoying stuff. _________________ I´m back in 2023 on Classic Amiga with my A1200/Blizzard1230IB@50Mhz, 32MB RAM, AmigaOS3.2 and ROMs, Indivision AGA MK3, Author of Amiga-Flipclock (OS4) |

| 84: You still read and sometimes even post on the Amiga forums, even though your real Amiga hasn't been removed from it's (original) box in years, much less powered on.

somewhere in storage I've got an AmiExpo baseball cap.

| 85. You think UAE users are not true believers in the Amiga faith. 86. You don't own a PC or Mac at all. 87. When you're forced to use windows you think its broken when you click something and nothing immediately happens. 88. You think windows is broken because of the... pffft, you just think windows is broken. _________________ OS4 Rocks X1000 beta tester, Sam440 Flex (733)

My only working Amiga left is a 1200 with a 060 inside powering up a 4Gig IDE HDD. It takes 4 seconds to boot from cold and that even impresses me. Now that I've found you can buy solid state IDE drives of the same size I'm hoping I can make it boot before I even plug it into the mains. ;)
Sad to say that's about the only trick it has up it's sleve next to this quad CPU PC with it's twin GFX cards which puts even Deep Blue to shame.
But, it takes ages to boot (compaired to the Amiga) so I say "nuts!" to PC.
Edit: Also have you noticed that (ex)Amigans tend to stare at the loading screen of windows while it boots but experienced PC users go off and make a cup of tea? I still do that. Mind you, I stare at the screen during defrags as well so that might just be brain damage thats causing that...Last edited by SpaceDruid on 23-Mar-2007 at 04:55 PM. 89.) You've ever bragged about being able to do X, and format a floppy "at the same time!"

The Windows 98/95 one? It's like watching a game of weird game of Tetris, great fun! In fact theres a Smart File System defrager that looks similar.
