I think the supplier used to sell Pegasos systems? (I bought a Mobo off him at BB3 a couple of years back). I also bought a couple of Classic tower systems off him as well. Now trading as AlienTek. Didn't know he was an OS4.0 classic re-seller though?

Yes, I have heard the rumors, however to be totally fair and honest I had no problems in my dealings with him?

Personally I will buy from A-Cube or AmigaKit because I want to support Amiga suppliers.

However, according to the eBay sale in question you are covered up to £150 if you pay with Paypal. (subject to the usual paypal terms and conditions)

How is it possible to sell something that you do not yet have to hand?

AOS 4.0 for Classic is available 30 November, not before. AFAIK, it is illegal to accept money for items not in hand, let ALONE even 'created' as of the date of sale. How can you be sure Alien^tek will even GET the stock he is 'selling'?

(And the wording of the Ad on e-bay makes it seem like you will be getting a PPC card as well, as first glance.)

And WHY would you want to pay someone over-the-odds for it? The price listed on ACube site is 74 euros, or ~51.76 GBP.

Amigakit has stated their (reasonable) prices as well and I applaud their decision to refuse payment until stock has been confirmed in transit to them.

Now *that* to me sounds like an honest way to do business.

But heh, to each their own.

Yes you are right.
This is a gamble, with the proviso that PayPal covers me for all purchases upto 150.00 Pounds I've been told. I know that for sure PayPal will secure my preempted investment.

No harm in being the first. Willing to peruse refunds and or insurance rebates if I don't get the
copy in a timely fashion.

If the eBay seller is breaking eBay policy that is yet to be determined.

If I don't get the copy of Amiga OS 4 or at least a refund I can do something about it.
I also have spare cash to purchase another copy so I don't miss out.

Good luck to everyone, I missed on a AmigaOnc a long time ago, I'm not going to miss this boat.

don't like the statement on the listing "Soon After 30th November", also the screenshots are a concern as I believe he should only be showing shots of the AmigaOS as per what is contained in the box if it includes DV player then fine, or he changes the statement that some of the software featured in the screenshots needs to be purchased separately.

what do you all think.
