Uh oh, my main drive is on my A4000T's onboard SCSI. Oh well, I suppose it would bother me more if I actually owned a CSPPC card. Hopefully by the time I get one someone will have written a driver for it.

@mpiva

Or you use the SCSI that comes with the CSPPC.

Is it possible to use the " old working " mediator drivers to use the pci card that doesn't work with the native drivers of amiga os 4.0 ? like the soundblaster and the ethernet pci card ?

Is it as bad as Nearly_Right puts it, or can he/she be discarded as a disappointed user?

Well, i am not a programmer so i don't know the tecnical reason why not supporting all these pci board, but as the mediator offer all these pci compatibilities i don't understand why os4 can not..

I think Rogue said that you could switch back to Elbox drivers, but they couldn't be used in conjunction with OS4 PCI drivers.

If enough people ask, Elbox might release OS4 native version of their PCI drivers.

I would be much more confident if Hyperion or else some bounty based initiative was started to write native drivers.

I mean how long has Elbox been developing drivers for their MPEG-2 decoders, dragons etc... An eternity!

Basically, the Mediator does not (and cannot) know anything about memory that is not on the Amiga CPU bus. Fast Ram on accelerators is local to the accelerator card. As such, it cannot access that RAM and cannot offer DMA to that. Elbox worked around that by using a hack. They wrote drivers that use the GFX card RAM as a DMA buffer and then use normal IO to access the data on the buffer. This works but is an ugly hack that relies on having a gfx card connected to the PCI bus at all times. It also means that the drivers using it are not actually using DMA. These might all be acceptable for drivers written specifically for the Mediator but definitely not for generic drivers.

@ID4

If something isn't in the list it doesn't mean it doesn't work, it just means it wasn't tested.

XSurf/2/3cc native support also! Thanks a lot to All involved!

About Mediator drivers..

since is understandable that Hyperion can't follow and adapt/rewrite everithing due lack of time, i'm confident Elbox will. (is in theyr interest, if you ask me!)

We can understand that Mediator ZIV is like Mediator ZIV, and Powerflyer ZIV is like Powerflyer 4000.

Thanks

IIRC Rogue said that is not going to happen. That's why I said to contact Elbox.

They're gonna release those drivers together with the MPEG2 decoder ones and the Dragon.
