@A3000T

What happens when you try using 1920x1200 at 59 Hz?

Does "VSYNCMIN=56" mean that your minimum Hz is 56?

I have been planning to upgrade to a 24" TFT for awhile now.. and I'm wondering if 59Hz will work okay.

I'll probably take my A1 down to the shop if I go for one of these monitors now.

"The 960x600 and 1680x1200 screenmodes are not listed in the workbench screenmode prefs program. Why not?

because the X are in uppercase?

DVI does not work with os4 here, only VGA-cable. U-Boots shows but WB goes
black. 1280x1024 60Hz (as maximum of this ViewSonic TFT) with a Radeon 9250
(and previously 8500) works fine. Anyone got Dvi to work? Only Morphos guys
told me it does. Good for them:)

The published Radeon driver does not support DVI. It works in U-Boot because
the x86 BIOS of the gfx board does configure the board to create both VGA
and DVI output. As soon as the OS4 driver configures the board to a graphics
mode DVI is dead, and the driver cant use the x86 BIOS.

IIRC it was already mentioned that a beta driver exists which supports DVI,
but AFAIK it doesnt work with all Radeons, only with some models which have
DVI _only_.

There exist VGA to DVI converters, IIRC (corrections welcome) the single-link
models have an upper frequency/resolution limit which is lower than the maximum
you can create with the Radeon VGA output.

BTW, did a quick test with a MicroA1 onboard Radeon and the 1920x1200 mode here,
my 1280x1024 TFT scales it down, but it reports the expected frequencies
which were shown by the ScreenMode prefs editor.

@jahc

Using a 1920x1600 screen resolution on a 32mb gfx card is probably not a good idea.

@TetiSoft

Good to know if there is something comming. No problems here as the vga works.
Just buying an expencive dvi-cable made me a little worried with two gfx cards tested. Ok, it is the Radeon-driver as suspected.

I just added scan rate fields to my Ranger program which use floating point math to calculate the frequencies. Ranger should be a bit more precise compared to what ScreenMode prefs reports. However, it is only as good as the source data which comes from the MonitorInfo struct.

I'm back from work and did some more experiments with the monitor.

I already found it. Another icon was covering it up.

I tried it, but still no luck. the screen just goes all black and the on screen menu doesn't work. The monitor won't go in standby mode like it does when there is no signal either. There is also no error message about wrong frequency or something like that.

No. just a regular VGA cable.

It should work here too, then. I'm going to try another graphic board in my A1 this weekend. Maybe it'll work better. Thanks for your help so far.

I didn't know it was case sensitive. Thank for the tip.

Kind regards,

Dennis

I just got a Digimate L-2442W 24" today.

I managed to get all modes working perfectly through the monitor tool type except for 1920x1200 which was a bit squashed didn't fill the screen.

I made my own 1920x1200 in Picasso96Mode and it's now working perfectly too.

Here are the settings I used.

Clock 199.70 Mhz

Interlace unticked

DoubleScan unticked

Timings ------- horiz --- vert

Frame size --- 2600 -- 1320

Bordersize --- 0 -------- 0

Position ------- 224 ---- 61

SyncSize ------ 64 ------ 8

SyncPolarity - ticked - unticked

This result the frequencies 77Khz and 58Hz

Screenmode prefs says 77.63Khz and 58Hz

According to the manual, the timings for 1920x1200 should be 74.55Khz and 59.88Hz.
