| @hotrod Yep, EyeTech removed the soundchip to save themselves money, rather than actually knowing much about what they were building, or to pass on those savings. Agreed.
And, happy to move on as well, as long as no one wants to debate the 'quality' or 'non-issues' of the old A1s.

It isn't that what you're saying isn't true, it's just that it's old and not the big problem right now, lack of hardware is. If you where on the mailinglists that where and still are available for A1 users when the first A1 XE models where chipped and you'd read what people wrote regarding the chipset you would know that a decision was made to remove it. It actually wasn't broken, we know that now. And why make such huge arguments about it when it's 30$ ?! That's nothing compared to what the computer did cost and I didn't get it back then and I don't get it right now.
AOS 4.0 runs ok and I'm happy about it and worries a lot about the future. The A1 XE could've been worse too .
I'd also like to add that you've no idea about how angry and even mad I've been about the countless of times I installed Linux on this machine before AOS 4 was released and before the DMA problems where admitted to be a problem of the hardware.
No it isn't perfect but AOS 4.0 runs pretty well on it and I think it's working pretty well. |

| It's sad they built not-so-good-quality hardware for running OS4. But people still seem to be quite happy with the hardware they bought. If NatAmi supports OS4 it'll be an added bonus to what it already is (in specs that is) . _________________ Amiga - still alive & kickin'! |
