Too bad because with the Altivec version the CPU is at 55% max and without it goes up as far as 85% _________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz |

Yes, it works but it's really slow since it uses nearly 100% CPU when recording I would also say that the "older" non Altivec is faster than the one I'v just tested now. _________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz |

Well at least that confirmed my earlier suspicion.
I did a search for "zlib altivec" and found this BTW: http://www.freevec.org/old/whitepapers/Adler32-Altivec.pdf
So maybe there might still be some use for altivec optimisations. The adler32 function is used by zlib both for compression (deflate) and decompression (inflate) so maybe it will provide at least a small increase in speed. |

It's working but still uses 90 to 95 % CPU. Are the Altivec optimizations activated ? i'm recording a 640x480 screen.
Nontheless it can still produce some "watchable" videos Last edited by K-L on 14-Nov-2009 at 11:45 AM.

So it actually made it slower? I guess I'll have to give up trying to make it faster this way then.

Yes, I disabled the other altivec stuff.Last edited by salass00 on 14-Nov-2009 at 12:54 PM.

Indeed, it made it slower, weird too bad you haven't got a G4 to test it by your own. _________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz |
