I still miss the A3000 case. It was a revolution compared to the ugly PC boxes when it came out. So sleek and clearly *designed* as opposed to just a drab box to stuff the hardware in.

I also loved the A1200 design back then for a small/simple machine.

But these days I might be inclined to agree with you about a cube, especially given that CRT's are all but dead. Size wise a cube isn't likely to work well for a full size board like the X1000, though - or it'd be a *huge* cube.

AGREED!! It was the best looking AMIGA by FAR.
I have owned every model and miss this one the most. Would look horn with LCD. Maybe black or the beige on offer? If not, ATX the whole way. I do after all, want to be able to expand it with cards.

Wait until you see the A504-F and/or the A1159-F (name has not been decided just yet)

Yes that's what I was talking about! They were built in 1999 and shown at World of Amiga that year!
I have an old Italian magazine (which I recently bought as a back-issue) with a report that has pictures of the main unit and monitor (I only dig the main unit of course).

My heart broke when I learned what happened to those projects

Hyperion, get those back!

I disagree. I like the compact design of A1200.

@DAX

I didn't know it was ever made. I thought just a foam model was shown at some time.

It would be cool if X1000 comes in it, or if someone can make them. Anyway, maybe I'll do one in wood for myself.

Yes I meant they made a phisical foam model, which was phisically present at the show (inside a glass display) and Amigans were led to believe it would actually happen

Anyway let's add some pics for those that forgot about it (please disregard the monitor ):

The latter should be from World of Amiga 1999.

Instead of the Amiga name by itself (Hyperon can't use that) I would take out the word Amiga on the front and place a small writing that says "AmigaOne X1000" in the lower right corner instead. I would also replace the embossed Amiga logo on top, with an embossed Boing Ball (all stuff Hyperion has the right to use)

@DAX

I didn't realise it was just a foam mock up! The moment they announced the MCC was going to be x86 based, the community support dropped off and it was never going to see the light of day! It probably wouldn't have run anything resembling AmigaOS either!

@gregthecanuck

I got to agree to that :) Lian-Li knows design :) There is a company here in Norway,that had(or have) a joint venture with Lian-Li and their case designs. AFAIK they still do designs together. Microplex is the name of this company(their office is in a small town called Sarpsborg).

I prefer small and simple cases. The MCC design looked slick back than, but also a bit too 90 style. The A3000 is my most liked Amiga (but not only for the case).
The best uATX-case I found was this Coolermaster one:

My Pegasos resides in this case.It is uATX and was for many years my living room computer.
Now it got replaced by this:

I like it small and simple. It is virtually invisible.

Of course I also like it the way my Efika is housed ( http://via.i-networx.de/eframe/eframe.htm ):

I would like to say imminent but I have two or three things to sort out first...

I am hoping for a February/March release.

I am trying to reduce the size but still being able to have a 3.5/2.5" HD, slim DVD-RW, use of at least two of the three PCI slots on the SAM and I want it to look as cool as my budget allows.

Yes I want the programers keys back on the keypad! And Ctrl and Alts in the right spot.

But I don't know if boing ball Amiga keys would work. They'd have to be black and white, and the Amiga boing ball is in colour.

OTOH, the A keys were always in black and white, so worked from the beginning. And have always ben symbolised in the Amiga menus. They'd have to change the menu graphics!

@Zylesea

That Coolmaster case is nice.

The Apple one seems like a box where my granny had some cookies and candies
