Not being picky but, would be nice to see the machine with it on in the background. All we know that could be an a500 or something running it lol.

@Magic

Then someone would claim that the signal came from another source and others would claim the video was edited. etc.

I'm not going to start a poll about it, but yes, I hope to buy a Natami!

Fantastic!

Thank you for not starting a poll. Depending on price I would be interested, it's a nice way to continue the hobby...

Those glitches aren't fake though.

Hats off to the Natami team and all the others working on reproducing classic hardware.

Giana Sisters on Natami video

So after yeasr of development they have the same level like the minimig had two years ago.

Does this Natami use the 68050 or does it still use the original CPU ?

---

The Natami is a great Idea but it seems a bit too ambitious.

@Arko

I'm nut sure you can conclude that - there's also the Super AGA and the softcore plus a lot of other stuff - but if interested take a look at the natami website.

Maybe they are ambitious - but isn't that what everybody in Amigaworld wants (SAM wasn't ambitious enough to a lot of people here..)

Sorry until now no AGA+

From the Natami Website:

Sprites ................... 16bit linebuffer
blitter ................... basic implementation. Block and fill mode only, line to come
Video priority ............ half implemented
Scandoubler ............... fully implemented
Interrupts ................ fully implemented
Paula DMA control ......... fully implemented
Audio out ................. fully implemented
VGA out ................... working
DVI out ................... o
PCI ....................... o
IDE ....................... fully implemented
CIAs ...................... fully implemented
Disk DMA .................. 880k and 1790k, read only
Serial Port DMA ........... o
Slow peripheral I/O ....... fully implemented

Except some parts of dic DMA a 2 year old minimig still seems to be up to date. :sorry:

I looked to the Natami Website but there was no hint about the CPU, on the ToDo list there was not even something like a CPU

The team has divided up the efforts. That checklist is just for the SuperAGA implementation. The 68050 is headed up by Jens, username: Sub Micron. (And for clarification, NOT Jens S.). I suspect that the video was made using the 68060 plugin board at this time.

@Arko

I am also surprised as I thought it would be more advanced. Maybe fpga arcade and a real 060 is more interesting once Yaqube implements it.

If they had taken minimig custom chip emulation Natami would probably be in a more advanced state.

Keep in mind that a substantial percentage of those items have been ticked off in just the last few weeks. It's moving forward quite rapidly, just look back a bit in the base board bringup thread.

"Implemented" here seems to mean "adjusted/fixed the code from the dev boards to work on the actual Natami hardware".

No, two years ago most of the listed features were up and running in the Natami030 prototype and shown publicly at MEKA 2008. The time up till now has been spent by the chief hardware designer designing a standalone board design and adapting those features to make use of DDR2 memory.
Just like vidarh says, "implemented" means "implemented on the Natami LX board".

The board in the video is using the 68060 CPU card. The softcore is being developed by other developers who are IBM employees, and the core is very close to being fully usable, as it is being optimised at the moment.

The goals of the Minimig and FPGA Arcade are to recreate the Amiga chipset. The goals of the Natami project is to further develop the Amiga chipset, and that is what the design is having headroom for. Do not be fooled by the fact that the video shows an OCS game - in fact it was discussed yesterday if the video should not be officially released because of the reactions to this.

@Channel_Z

Natami is one of the most exciting Amiga projects, IMO. I really look forward to playing Breathless on SuperAGA.
