@fairlanefastback

FFS get over yourself, it is relevant that he is American, because he is American...

The American stereotype across the world, whether you like it or not is one of a people that is Big Brash and Bloated.
Not a nice stereotype I agree, but it is a shame how many Americans work tireless to make it a fact...

I don't think it should be at all hard to understand that this board does not exist for you to spread stereotypes and do so as a means to insult people. There are plenty of fellow members of this site that are Americans and the TOS asks members to be courteous and to avoid being rude or mean-spirited. So just stick to that as a guide instead of doing what you did there. Its that simple.

Now we regretfully have to start the disciplinary procedure. You now have warning #1.

What a stereotypical American slob!

What does it matter that he is American? There are overweight people all over the world. And there are likely millions of Americans more fit than most of us on this board, no matter where we are from.

I dont think it matters where he is from or what size he is either.
But you have to admit that americans are one of the most overweight/obese people on average.
Here it is for example rare to even see a obese person but in USA you can see them everywhere.

Either way i am against people being judged for their size, looks or location.

@ddni

His country and body size has absolutely no impact on his ability to run a website.

Why bother posting stuff like this? I see you're from Northern Ireland, there are some norther Irish stereotypes that could be promoted... would you appreciate that?

Just to be clear, I certainly don't deny that there is a major obesity problem here.

@Thread

This is a matter for statistics, concern for children and rationale discussion.

Not flippant insults.

Obesity in Americans has tripled in children and doubled in adults over the last 30 years.

Why? Are Americans generically predisposed or in some way inferior? Definitely not!

The causes, were they to manifest in Europe, would likely have the same result. A dramatic increase in obesity there as well. What are those causes:

1. Longer work week, less vacation.

American work weeks are up from 40 hours per week to an average of 46 hrs in 30 years. And 38% of the population is working 50+ hours per week. This leads to less time for meal preparation and more frequent consumption of fast food.

Additionally, Europe has a much better vacation policy. Every European employee (part-time and full-time) is legally _entititled_ to atleast 4 weeks vacation per year. I just left a job that allowed **** 5 days **** per year. And I am an Electrical and Computer Engineer with a Master's Degree, working full time, and got 5 days. Plus, I was expected to work at least 45 hours per week, and often much longer.

Vacation is tolerated, sparingly in the US. We don't get the August hiatus that Europeans do. This long work week, coupled with little time to recharge leads _statistically_ to a higher incident of fast food consumption and obesity.

2. Fast food restaurants on every corner

Fast food restaurants in the US have increased 10 fold in 30 years. Every other ad is for a high fat, but tasty meal that appeals to families where both parents just finished a 55 hr work week.

Additionally, portion sizes have more than doubled (value size etc.) and fat grams have quadrupled vs fast food meals 30 years ago.

3. Beverage industry

Over the last 30 years, the beverage industry and average American consumption has increased dramatically. Children become addicted to the sodas at a young age and grow up unable or unwilling to drink the amount of water they need to effectively process and shed fat. This has started a cycle over the last 30 years, where water has progressively been replaced (to a large degree) with diet and sugar sodas, and the soda industry is marketing the hell out of this trend to sustain it.

People are mostly the same the world over. American's higher tendency toward obesity in the last 30 years has more to do with rampant commercialism of our food supply (more taste, more speed, less health) marketed to a public that is working much longer hours with much less vacation.

Were this conditions to manifest elsewhere, you would likely see much the same outcome.

Of course, individuals can respond differently to this conditions. But, we're talking statistics here. Not what *you* would do.

You would think adults, regardless of country of origin, would be adult enough to resist resorting to 4th grader insults! Still, I'm sure the flippant remarks, while offensive, will eventually contribute to an increased awareness and motivation among Americans to take action against the factors that are pushing our public (and children especially) toward a health crisis.

@jingof
When did i insult anyone? I clearly stated that i am against judging a person based on body size.
I never ever said that americans or obese people are anymore inferior.
All i did was stating the fact that USA has more overweight persons on average than most countries.

Edit: actually i think it was even wrong to even bring up his size in this thread in first place...

Seems like the links to original website has been disabled though.

Edit: Actually all links seems disabled/non functioning. Cannot even click on the buy button.
