I am asking this question as register user and still use the 0.65 version and I'm waiting for a new version that with OS4 update 1 has a lite version that play mp3 files besides of videos, and nobody know work the new version is there is, because this question is very easy register one program and not know its improvements in one year, well, it is a bit worrying, or that Hyperion spoiled me.

@Templario

This question about an update has been asked a few times over the last year or so and I think the only real news is that it is still being developed.

Unfortunately there hasn't really been any comment from the developer as to how it is progressing.

I is an amazing package as it stands but there are many things still to implement and that may be the reason for the delay in a new release.

@Templario

I can confirm that the update is being worked on, I have a beta version that is working well although there is a slight bug that means I can't test the bit Stephen wants me to test the most. So I'm just waiting for that to be fixed so I can continue testing for him.

Before you ask...

NO I won't tell you anything about what's new, fixed or updated, that's up to Stephen and always will be.

@Severin

Doesn't really matter what the updates are, at least we know it's definitely being worked on.

Great news, any idea of a release date?

This does seem strange as demo versions used to be built from the same code but with cut back features. I wonder why the free version is updated and the payed version is delayed. That in itself doesn't make sense.

@Templario

The avcodec library is not maintained and it added an enormous delay to releases Stephen could do.
If we could find someone to maintain avcodec.....

Could libffmpeg be used ? I've believed avcodec was useless without avformat.

Anyone know when it will support the MPEG4 family (mpeg4, h264, divx, xvid, etc.)?

Or does it already do that but I didn't pay enough attention?

@elwood

avcodec, who came from the ffmpeg, is now outdated on his aos4 library form.

You confirm me cbasa simon not available to maintain avcodec.

Do you know if the original cbasa code conversion from linux to AOS4 library exist ??? Maybe Cobra have the sourcecode for the avcodec.library ???

avcodec is one part of ffmpeg. Need the original cbasa source or another programmer should make the work again from zero....

Afaik there are 3 versions of DVPlayer, restricted Demo, less restricted OEM & full registered.

The "free" version afaik was not updated apart from bug fixes, the OEM version was bundled with OS4.1.

DVPlayer has always supported divx / xvid in the registered version. no idea about mp4/h264 support though.

I don't you ask about the new improvements, I'm happy with know that the program continues develop, because with the new Amiga hardware and the CPU speeds, we have more options to see the videoclips in its true size, not in conversions, that I have did for my Sam.

h264 codec is already implemented in avcodec.library

What we really could do with is some news on the DVPlayer site itself.

People are checking the DVPlayer site looking for news, not finding any and then asking for news on here.

Ok, great! MP4 is the same as divx though, pretty much, and h264 is in the same family as well.

Just tried an AVI and WMV but it said those are not supported in the OS4 OEM version. But this means it knows about them

Tried a MOV from my digicam but that just played incorrectly as an audio sample. A 30 sec clip played like 2 second noise. Maybe is can't handle MOV at all...
