| @itix Seems like a guy took 10 words and splashed them there (anyway what would you expect out of Doityourselfpedia ). The context isn't clear at all. "Remaining" might even imply some were already shipped. _________________ SamFlex Complete 800Mhz System + AmigaOS 4.1 Update 4 Amiga 2000 DKB 2MB ChipRam GVP G-Force040 Picasso 2 OS3.9 BB2 AmigaCD 32 |

| @opi They are not the only ones doing it, most game news and screens cannot be published on the net before certain magazines publish them exclusively. I mean, I can agree with you mind you, but calling it the "Amiga-way" would seem too exclusive.

I don't read gaming press (I'm a retro gamer as one could easily guess) so I'll trust you on that, but two wrong don't make it right, also it will take 20 seconds before someone will republish it over Internet. Also in gaming world you have what, 40 major releases per year? You can easily pass on Duke'em 3D but X1000 was sold as second coming and there's not much going on in Amiga world.
Anyway, it just looks silly from my perspective. _________________ OpenWindows Initiative. Port PS3 hardware to bananas. For free. Join today and receive expired $50 cupon from AI! |

The reason I waited to answer your questions Is that the answers are covered in the AmigaFuture update article. I think it's important to support of of the few remaining Amiga magazines (which is published in both German and English).

You could have PM the answer and ask him not to post the reply out of respect for AF.

| @itix: thanks, i have seen this information posted before, but i thought it doesnt make much sence to talk about announcements of release dates yet again. much more reliable indication to as how the project is progressing would be a little insight into what is being done now and how it is coming along. i think everybody interested would be greatful if such was granted.
@dax: as for distributing information only via commercial print media instead blatant advertsement via internet, i really do not think it is the reality today, much less the way to go, if you want to become noticed at all. interviews for magazines can help generate interest, but essential communication should be as direct as possible. see for instance other amiga related companies or projects have established dedicated open forums.
@trevor: edit: i see... still i think supplying most openly the up to date information to the community should have priority beyond supporting magazines. Last edited by wawa on 08-Mar-2011 at 01:55 PM.

The problem with doing that is that sometimes, in order to work with others, you have to share information with your peers. While kas1e can vouch for himself regarding privacy, he can't pledge that others will honor it. I'm not saying this is the case here, just that in general, it's difficult for someone with a project to dispense information as freely as you might wish. Not to mention that kas1e might think these were answers to questions that everyone would like to know, which might explain why they were asked in a public forum.

| @wawa My guess is that Trevor is also a "journalist" for Amiga Future (started before the X1000 project begun) and loves people to read his articles

Aw! How did you guess?
Actually, I started with "Total Amiga" and transferred the "Amiga Future" after TA closed.

makes sense and heck I'd do the same if I took the time and effort. Amiga Future is a great magazine and I honestly look forward to each issue. If you take some time off your busy day to check in regularly on Amiga sites then you owe it to yourself to at least buy an issue of Amiga Future and check it out for yourself._________________ ____________________________ c64-2sids, A1000, A1200T-060@50(finally working!),A4000-CSMKIII ! i simply do not read newspapers, and i think there is plenty other ways to support amiga other than buying magazines. given that usually most significant news got usually spilled first, i assume the information about betatest boards distribution date is what can be considered most important news for today. I still don't see the big issue. I doubt it would effect sales of AF one way or another in any significant numbers. The moment the AF is delivered to someone, the information can be on the net in seconds, so where is the significant value of secrecy? I personally don't care but it does seem a bit elitist attitude to those of us on the outside. That all by itself will alienate outsiders. Or is that the goal?
