| I don't know what's going on. I just tried to use IBrowse on OS4.1 and now it crashes evertime I goto any website I used to. Here for instance. Has AW.net changed?
It doesn't make any sense. I haven't touched anything. Just left my computer for a few days and now it's broken! I knew IBrowse was buggy but it would at least work on here but now it's useless!
This is so annoying, IBrowse is the browser I use for AW.net. Argh!!!
I copied files off my OS4.1 install CD image just to make sure nothing corrupted. And used CompareDirs, all the files were the same except my setting files. So I can't fathom what is going on.
So is this it? Has the internet changed and finally killed off IBrowse. Have the Amiga sites changed so now it crashes? Is it just a gltch in my system or have other people found their IBrowse has just become useless? Last edited by Hypex on 16-Mar-2011 at 02:25 PM.

No changes here. IBrowse is as stable as always, haven't crashed in weeks or months now. Posting with IBrowse 2.4 under MorphOS right now and JS enabled only when it's needed. _________________ - The wiki based MorphOS Library - Your starting point for MorphOS - Software made by jPV^RNO |

That's always a good tip too.
But I've never seen an issue with JS and AW, so maybe he has cache or cookie problem. Else it's something wrong in settings.

I never had problems with IBrowse 2.4 here or any other place. It is very outdated browser but developers made good job there. I never ever used such complex piece of software with so few bugs (i.e. none). _________________ Amiga Developer Amiga 500, Efika, Mac Mini and PowerBook |

Heh. Apparently I've made over 6000 post with it here, so it prolly works.

Try delete cache files (it helped me with similar problems). |

To avoid crashes in IBrowse, disable Javascript and plugins. Then it will be rock solid for browsing sites with ordinary html

Well they've been rock solid for ages now and the only one that touches them is IBrowse. It's possible they have been corrupted. I will have to replace each one to check. |

I am surprised about this JS thing. I always leave it on. I've never had any reason to turn it off other than sites that delay it and even then I let it itme out. |

I can tell you that on OS4 IBrowse certainly has it's bugs. Now that's not to say it is only IBrowse at fault here since it doesn't run natively on OS4 but through an emulator. I have tested it using both 68k emulators and IBrowse always can crash both. Or at least my dad tends to find sites that always crash it somehow. Google is a curse on IBrowse.
The OS4 emulators have had some time to become stable and there 68k software I use with no major problems nor crashes. This would point the finger at IBrowse. The fact is it is 68k software and written for a machine/OS that is very lazy on the programmer and lets serious bugs go through unharmred and unaware to the user. Even with 68k debugging tools you can't be so sure the code os okay. On OS4 this just doesn't work and it won't let anything bad pass through, it will catch it! I believe IBrowse has been caught out. OS4 doesn't mince words, but if a program has a bug it will dice it! |

It was rock solid here and other Amiga sites four days ago. Whatever went belly up with it. OS4Depot is still okay when I checked. |

I'd vote the other recomending you delete your cache, likely a miss identified image is causeing acrash or some similar thing.
I rarely use Ibrowse myself, but it worked last time I tried...
Another thing to check, is your stack settings in it's icon or whereever else, as it they were suddenly lowered for some reason, that would surely trip it up on complex pages, it certain does for AWeb anyway.

Stable as a rock here with AWN. Looks like your copy has corrupted somewhere.

Reinstalling, it's the Windows way, yuck :) I'm not sure if I have ever reinstalled anything on Amiga and in worst case it would cause some old libraries installed :) _________________ - The wiki based MorphOS Library - Your starting point for MorphOS - Software made by jPV^RNO |

You mean safest, the easiest is to copy the original mui classes from your fresh install backup or from the install CD, provided its the MUI classes that causing it.
And delete prefs, web cashes and other stuff, to restore Ibrowse to fresh install state.
If you do complete fresh reinstall you might end up, looking all over the internet for 3rd parity libraries and MUI classes and other stuff, you really don't wont to waste time on that. (that's unless you have a backup) _________________ http://lifeofliveforit.blogspot.no/ Facebook::LiveForIt Software for AmigaOS |

Okay I checked the cache and had lots of entries from Sunday. I allocated 100MB for it, what a mess. I guess sacrificing the cache wouldn't be too bad. So I did some testing. I tried to clean disk cache. Not much happened. So I decided to quit and clean it up that way in case it was left in an unclean state. Aha! My cache volume is out of space! But then that error went away. Try again and it crashes. Deleted an old OWB from my cache volume and got 56MB back!
So load up IBrowse again. Go to here and it works! Looks like IBrowse has a bug in it's disk cache code and can't handle running out of space.
Thanks for the hints. Last edited by Hypex on 16-Mar-2011 at 02:25 PM.
