Well, my ACER Iconia W500 (AMD C-50 fusion) Tablet PC (iPad type) can fit into C64X case (or the standard C64 case for that matter). Atm, I don't need Intel Atom based solution.
I can modifiy C64X case which I can slide-in/slide-out the tablet i.e. creating a retro-C64X USB docking device for my tablet which can replace ACER's own keyboard+USB-Hub+mouse-pointer docking device.
C64X case is large enough to house in a laptop USB blu-ray drive.
My tablet fits into my old C= Amiga 500 case. I need Amiga keyboard-to-USB converter and a hack on the side for laptop blu-ray drive.

Sure. It is simply a choice matter. There are people that can use or would desire such solutions like those from Commodore USA and there are those whose desire or need might happen to by something else.
I don't have any personal issue with it. Maybe down the road there be a product from Commodore USA that might serve a need you have. Likelihood.... maybe...maybe not, it all depends but it isn't only just C64x but that is just one of the products that happens to be among the first and on the priority list.
For me, I don' necessarily "need" a C64x but it be fun and be something that could be used from a software development standpoint for key mapping and documentation and such for Commodore OS software that I might target for fun and would simply want to have the key mapping down as it is a little different than traditional PC keyboard.

Pretty much true, keyboard computers are practical but that doesn't mean people don't desire them. Nowadays all you need is some office staff, everything else can be done in China. They'll likely survive.

Actuall, there are 12 classic function keys(F1-F12), on the number section, first row up.
Those 5 are programmable keys and the reason there's 5 of them is probably to be in sync with the expanded keyboard. _________________

Let me fix that typo for you.

I would wait before naming something as a c**p substitute. You havent even seen it and allready you have a prejudice. Not quite a realistic thinking at the moment.
In the early stage it will play flash native, .mkv native, 5.1 sound native, USB2.0 native.... Actual AOS can`t still do that after years of development. have I missed something?
Don`t know what is it doing here. I did not post it. I am talking about upcoming Amiga line and C= OS that will be a base for the new Commodore Amiga line.Last edited by eXec on 25-May-2011 at 10:42 PM.

Amiga OS has no Amiga machine as well. It`s not Amiga. X1000 is not Amiga!

mkv is just a container, like AVI, mp4, and others. It's not a file format. Since it can contain different file formats inside, it's not accurate to say that one piece of hardware or OS can/cannot play it. Perhaps you meant to indicate h264 in hi def?

Yes, you are right. Video is not my cup of tea. I`m in a pro audio. But i ment on most 1080p 5.1/6.1/7.1 .mkv video files that are mostly used today.

np. That's correct. No current h/w we call "amiga" will handle this properly, although I understand MorphOS on the macs either does...or comes darn close depending on the processor.

So practicaly nothing from the death of the old C= is Amiga, and will never be? Can the gathering of the all licenses on one pile bring the Amiga back?

I think you changed the subject? I was agreeing with you. I was referring to all things "amiga" to date. That would not include anything new carrying the brand name. I'm sure C=USA and IContain products intend to handle hi def as a standard.
I can't guess the chances of gathering licenses, so I can't guess how that would affect Amiga in the future either. We'll see...
