I really still use 3.1 and 3.9. Still need support on classic!!!AmigaOS 4 is unavailible to me (no hardware I can afford) saving upSo, can amiWest have basic classes for nu-b users?

I'm with you 100%. I've been using os4 for over 6 years & I too would love to see aros & morphos demoed as well, aros for dummies sounds good to me.

@sundown

I am thinking about attending this year. I just hope another emergency doesn't come along They always seem to visit me when AmiWest is scheduled. Last year some creep teenagers reached over my fence and clubbed my dog with a baseball bat nearing breaking his neck. The surgery at WSU in Pullman to repair his spine cost several thousand dollars and a 5 week stay to enable his rear legs to move again. A couple of more weeks for his front legs to move, and months to walk unaided.

I'd be interested in seeing the AspireOS demonstrated on an Acer Aspire One A110 or A150, but I doubt Nikos can come all the way from Oslo, Norway. I wonder if anyone attending can do that for him.

Also interested in seeing X1000, MorphOS, and AROS.

Wow, sorry about your dog, our amimals are like family, they hurt, we hurt.

Lets hope the mos & aros ppl take notice this year. Its always a fight to convince ppl that its an "amiga" show, not just an "os4" show. If we can do that, the show will grow & be better then ever.

For some reason they must be feeling put off. They shouldn't though. Lots of people would like to see them there.

I don't remember the year I first attended, but the day I arrived at the July 1999 show, my family called to inform that my Father was dieing. I left immediately.

I was at the 2004 show and arrived in Sacramento minutes after the dog kennel closed. I was going to sleep in my car to keep the dog quiet, but fortunately the hotel allowed me to keep the dog in my room for that night. Several other bazaar things happened that weekend.

I was going to attend last year hadn't the baseball bat incident happened. It's always sumthun!

I hope the lead up to this year's show is uneventful.

@thread

just to put in 'my two cents' here: i was a new amiga user last year, and amiwest 2010 remains the only amiga-related event i have attended to date. for me the X1000 and the SAM460 were, and remain, my main interest. but i had really wanted to see more demonstrations of MOS and the classic systems. this year i'd be very interested to see what can be done on a classic system in 2011, for example.

the idea that the show is catering to one 'flavor' or another is absurd. the organizers and show attendees state interest in seeing MOS, et al, at the show. why not take @amigadave's example, and come on out to sacramento, meet other fellow amigans. it can only make the show even better.

Oh, boo hoo. Want a tissue?

AmiWest is open to all Amiga related systems and always has been. I have chatted with the show organizers many times. There are stories of some trying to "take over" shows in the past. The show organizers keep the peace and do their best to give everyone a fair shake. The priority is always the show itself and not any particular platform.

With AmiWest you get what you put in. Put nothing in and expect the same in return.

As for show info, I'm trying to get the show organizers to post information on their web site and the show blog so those not familiar with how to rent a table can get what they need. We all help out in whatever way we can and it is a 100% volunteer effort. The bigger the show is the better it is for everyone who attends.

If some years it seems like it is all AmigaOS 4.x and nothing more it is because people like myself actually bothered to show up and nothing more.

Nice to see that the big three will be attendance:

A-Eon - Amiga Hardware.
Hyperion - AmigaOS.
Amigakit - Worldwide Amiga supplier.

I have priced up an air ticket, but unfortunately the airlines aren't buying Kidneys yet...

@terminills

I remember amigadave expressing a desire to attend, but felt he would be singled out for being a morphos user. He took the chance & now we can't get rid of him

Now, would you respect the opinion of one of your own or someone who's never been or has anything to do with the show?

The goal is to see the show grow, & getting the whole amiga community involved is the key to growth.

The other "Official" webpage states that Trevor Dickenson is to be the speaker at the banquet, but that might be left over from last year when he spoke during the show. IIRC, Carl Sassenrath was the main speaker at the banquet last year.

@Sundown,

So your trying to get rid of me now?

A vast majority of internet traffic covers that question in great detail already... most of it very graphic.

@all
I was rather surprised to be asked to be honest. Alas, my new position as the AmigaOS Development Team Lead pretty much guaranteed it I am told. I'm hoping to have a Hyperion representative or two show up in addition to myself so I don't have to wear too many hats at the same time.

I did represent Hyperion at a show a couple of years back now and it went fairly well. That was when Hyperion announced the Amiga Inc. lawsuits were finally settled. I hope to have a much better surprise or two this time around.

Yeah, I've been trying to get that web site updated for a while now. In addition to the corrected info. we need table prices and sponsorship rates posted so new people have an easier time of things.

There are rumblings some AROS guys will be making the show this year (finally!) so they need to know these kinds of things.

Guys like us that show up every year know the rules but none of the new guys do.

But it would be nice to get more morphos guys to help you out.

I am pleased to hear this. I hope someone shows the AspireOS on the A110 or A150.

Even me who's only attended a handful of times forgets. The last time I went you guys threw a hell of a noisy all night party in the room next to mine.
