Apparently. Once we get documentation to support this claim we will see what is really going on.

That is true, but unfortunately that probably gives them the right to ####ize the Amiga Trademark now, branding their machines Amiga's - SIGH. If that IS the case then I hope they get the Commodore fate ..... Just my opinion, that's all.

I agree.
The usual Genesi spin has already started if you have a look at http://morphos-news.de/. Since when has AmigaDE been the Amiga Operating System? Besides which - now Genesi know that Amiga Inc have no legal teeth so can effectively abuse their trademark rights anyway.

Pegasos an Amiga anyone?

/me sighs

@DaveP

Good. I would be interested to know the facts in the case. ie. what does it mean for Amiga Inc. I hope that it has no ill-effect on OS4.

I've got no problems if this is just for AmigaDE and covers nothing else. As Fleecy has hinted in the past, more platforms=more recognition and money. Considering what "blue" people generally seem to think of the AmigaDE, this seems more of a cheap PR opportunity than some grand plan.

If Genesi have other plans, then they'd better watch out..

A reply to my reply - I think there's a bug, it chopped half of my last reply off.

What I was trying to say is that Genesi is incapable of branding a product themselves so they want to steal - which is basically what they are doing - the Amiga's recognition for themselves as they can't create their own profile.

Amiga is known and has been covered on TechTV in the past, how about anything of Genesi's?

Hi,

It's AmigaDE only. But I remember that the contract was for AmigaDE being ported to one of their devices called Smartboy? And that was cancelled or so. So I would say that the contract stops there. I cannot remember that the contract said porting to the Pegasos.

Anyway, this will drag on and on and on I guess. Would not worry to much if you think there are other disasters coming or so.

Thread.

Please refrain from using this as an opportunity to slag off Genesi, one way to look at it is that once/if Genesi ports AmigaDE to Pegasos1 then theres 600 potential users of an old version of Intent who might come and join in civilised AmigaDE discussions on this site.

Anyway, there is such a thing as the Trade Descriptions Act. So watch this space.

No, that space about an inch down from where you are looking...

AFAIK/IIRC it was for the smartboy and future products. Amiga said it was ment only for smartboy like devices (which run WindowsCE IIRC) and Genesi said it was for all their future products.

Not sure if this is good or bad news, but I do think this is going to confuse a lot of people who want to run Amiga OS4 and see Pegasos 2 is AmigaOS (DE) compatible..

Ah, did not know that. I guess Genesi has to get a license from TAO also. I think some more news will be coming soon about this.
