@number6

Thanks for posting this here. I recorded and posted this earlier today. As is usual tradition at this point, I also attended the post-show dinner which was at a local place called Woody's on Watt Ave. Fun was had by all and the beer and drinks were good :) Best guacamole burger I've had in a while

There were two identical books at AmigaDave's tables containing NatAmi updates. If you missed the event, you should be able to look at the pages here.

I suggest checking social media for links. You'll probably find things before I do that way.
Also google "Amiwest 2011 utube", which is where I found APerez's file.

Ah, Mike Battilana's video of the Solie speech. At the show, I saw him posting it and teased him about his version getting up on the Net first before I could get my version posted. :)

for the lack of noticeable breaking news from amiwest except jens schoenfeld acquiring rights to poseidon stack and the vague announce of os4 netbook i went finally to watch the video of the lead os4 developers speech. its fairly time consuming as it looks like he attempts to cover some uncertainity or embrassement. now at 17 minutes the essential information (i have managed to notice) besides that "amigaos is funto use, but even more fun to program on" is about the developers team.
apparently even though there were plenty of quality applications (more than 50 afair) there was no success to attract new developers. there is a promise to work on this issue. simultanously it has been admitted, that there is only two full time developers (go figure) and the rest of the team consists of volunteers and free contractors, of whom even the lead developer works for free. not that it is unexpected, but what is to be done to improve this situation?

another mysterious quote:
"imagine, you had source code to amiga os and you couldnt call it amiga os. kind of strange, but it happens.."
and then the mention of amiga-fridges and tv sets. i ve literally seen with my eyes at this moment. the next amiwest (or another amiga meeting) as promotion event for household devices. wonder, if attendance would be the same.

oh, and besides, in os4 lead developers opinion after previous long talk of os4.x lineage, the conclusion, of what amiga consists of, is "if it behaves like an amiga, it is an amiga".
zerohero, what do you think of it? then how do mos and aros fit into this puzzle, if even ssolie admits the above?

also interresting to know, what carl sassenrath and the other original amiga developers broke privately to ssolie a year ago (about 23.18):
"oh, thats great, but these old machines.. new machines.. should enable you to do something creative. if they dont enable you to do something creative they are not interesting." (wow, thats some tacheles!)

ssolie reports to answer: "oh, yeah. you are right" (sounds a little puzzled)

@wawa

If you want to give Mr Solie's speech a proper Fisking, start another thread. This is supposed to be a list of audio/video from Amiwest.

I have never said MorphOS and AROS is not Amiga to be, on the contrary I have been very open with that I include them in my personal Amiga-definition. What I have said is that AmigaOS 4.x is the only continuation of AmigaOS 3.x. Nothing more, nothing less. It has nothing to do with which is better or worse than the other, just about heritage.

EDIT:
Origin is probably a better word than heritage.
