>Of course on Amiga it can't be avoided but I'd prefer to not reboot my computers ever.
I would love that too, except that I prefer to power my computers down when not in use. On my ubuntu machines I often reboot because gnome has locked up. It's faster to reboot than to try to revive the GUI.
>It is annoying to get any system back to its original state before reboot.
Ubuntu remembers what apps I had running, so I get back to where I was.
We need similar (but even better) systems for our Amigalikes. _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer? |

i actually remember seeing GEOS way back in the day on the C64, and it was amazing to me that something like that could fit into just 64KB of memory running on a 1MHz MOS 6510. it still is, frankly. and if someone could boot that up from a floppy being read by a 1541 in just a few seconds, well, that would be worth serious bragging rights.
there is an excellent retrospective, for those interested, on GEOS at OSnews.com.

Understandable but why are you rebooting after that?

But can't you just have them starting in start-up sequence so you don't have to do that?

>>Understandable but why are you rebooting after that?
Because I like playing around and when I get bored I reboot and it's all back to normal, I don't do it every time but knowing I can is a good thing.
Every time I show people they like it and wish they could do that on their Windows...etc... machines.

OK then don't do it. As I said the idea of being able to do something, the complete freedom and control over the system to me is a good thing. _________________ www.loriano.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk |

| Added a couple of comments in part one of the video.
Does anyone want to see anything else in part two?
Anything cool and funky I could add? Obviously something Amiga-only related.
If so please post it here.

Thanks for the page, after this little joke, I try it GEOS in the Chamaleon 64, well after about 6 long minutes of load, it WORKS very well.
So configure the Chamaleon to Turbo, and is still so slow in the load, but is great to remember this old great Graphics Interface for the C64. |

| @TheDaddy Starting some classic Amiga games using RunInUAE?
Maybe some modern(ish!) RTG/OS4 games might be interesting? e.g. Aquaria (some tweaks may be needed so you have enough Video Ram for it to run smoothly), Payback, Quake 2, Open Sonic, BOH.
Wordworth 7? (Don't forget to ensure it is set-up as I've described on Amigans.net)
Art Effect 3 or 4? TV Paint?
Blender? (I don't use this, but...)
Something internet related but not web browser?
AmiPDF?
Isn't there some program(s) for creating music or editing audio? (Not my thing, but it might look/sound pretty...) _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue... |

Screen dragging hey? You mean dragging the Workbench around with a game running behind?
I'll do that.
I need names of graphics and sound applications, classic and modern please. _________________ www.loriano.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk |
