Just heard that update 5 is not needed!
it only requires update 4, but maybe it will crash sometimes on exit with update 4.

It's in the OS4depot description: Requirements: AmigaOS 4.1 Update 5 |
Friedens HQ says 4.1.4 as well as it works on 4.1.4 as reported.
Maybe it means 4.1.5 will be soon out for everyone _________________ Future Acube and MOS supporter, fi di good, nothing fi di unprofessionals. Learn it harder way! |

Certain things still aren't implemented :)
Make sure you are in the correct directory before doing anything else. With the last command, make sure there are no spaces, i.e; fc-cache -r -f
Posting this from Timberwolf :)

Yup, I am fairly sure I am in the right directory when I typed the commands since I did the cd fonts:fontconfig/fontconfig_cache command.
If I do a ls I see just 2 files in that directory, some fae199blahblahblah-ppc.cache-2 and fae199blahblahblah-ppc-cache-2.NEW.
I then tried the commands as shown in the read-me and both gave me the unknown command errors.

| First impressions: Slow startup - 20 sec (40 sec if fonts are out of sync). Ultra slow scrolling (and I mean ultra slow). 3 tabs (2 heavy websites and the other was awn) and tw wasn't responsing. In contrast muiOWB worked. Also, same websites TW requested 150MB of RAM in comparison with muiOWB which allocated around 100MB. Tried to open again TW to try YT but it gave me a DSI. _________________

| My criteria is only a good browser for now to buy a new Amiga. A1XE a few A1200 with all (060 PIV etc) some A500 and now, is it happening?
I would like everyone a fast booting virus free laserprinter net & print machine.
This pc got to go to Chrome and my Nokia is just too good to compare to a X1000..
My hopes are up. Pretty Please is not enough and all the thousands invested too. |

| I don't have AmigaOS4 capable hardware (netbook, when, please?) but that doesn't mean I can't compliment the Frieden brothers for getting this project this far! Well done!

This FireFox 4.0 beta/alfa version works better the 3.5 alfa, menus now work, you can point and click on alert boxes, many rendering bugs has been fixed, browsing speed on www.amigans.net and www.amigaworld.net worked well, tried to post comment on facebook whit it, but nothing happened when pressed enter, problems CPU goes easily up to 100%, while scrolling pages, tried Youtube got a yellow guru, this browser is a nice progress, but not some thing I can trust for daily browsing yet.
Maybe Update 5 will fix most of my problems who knows, hardware acceleration will help a lot when its done, I see this a good stepping stone to a more recent version of Firefox.

| Slow startup but looks good. When I started OWB after TW was running, OWB startup was in slooow motion. Other programs seem a little sluggish even though TW is just sitting there. No crashes so far but have noticed a few problems:
I am unable to enter a location for "Save Files" in Preferences/General window and the Browse button does nothing.
Normal pasting text in string gadgets doesn't seem to work. The menu shortcut says Ctrl+V for pasting but that doesn't seem to work either. Why Ctrl+V instead of Amiga standard Amiga+V??
FILE/Open FIle menu opens a strange requester that won't let me switch to a different directory and only shows one file (Mozilla). If I enter the entire filepath in the requester file name gadget I get an error requester telling me that "CURRENTUSER:DH2:Data/book.html" doesn't exist. I don't have an assignment or device named CURRENTUSER: so I don't what it means. How do I enter a local file?? Nothing I have tried works.
FILE/Save Page As menu doesn't appear to do anything.
The Preferences appear to have been saved when I clicked the "Close" button. That's very un-Amiga like to me. How do I cancel changes if I don't want to save them?
The TImberwolf window keeps opening larger than the screen (vertically). How do I set the window size??
I think I need a list of what works and what doesn't or this post will just keep getting bigger.

| Good thing to see, but theres something thats confusing me. 8(
If timberwolf is Amiga specific, why is teh menu options always visible in their screen estate eating toolbar, instead of being autohidden integrated into the title bar as on normal amiga programs?
As in, whats the complexity of the program that prevents a titlebar thickness shift up, with hide until right mouse over?
Sorry. 8(
