@scabit

Okay I did a test in U6. Looks like effects killed it. Got it running okay. Except it is warped on my LCD. I see what you mean by the buttons. It's strange as it looks like DPaint is changing the palette. But can this only work in FE? In U6 I cannot use Screens as the DPaint screen does not exist so I cannot define any entry for it. I will test FE again tonight.

If a process name could be added I could pick DPaint. I did make a screen with name DeluxePaint but it seems pointless. Since the actual name may differ as it is has "Colour" after it. Will do some FE testing tonight.

BTW do you know which palette you need to chnage and the RGB values?

As I mentioned in a previous post..... Quote:
First, I had to start Dpaint 5. Then I set it to allow WB mode. Then I switched to Workbench and opened the screens prefs. Sure enough,there was an entry named "Dpaint".

That's how I got the screens prefs to see the DPaint screen.
In ModePro, the background pen is the one which changes, not sure which one it is by number though.

when I try to use the OS4.1 FE Prefs/screens to change or modify the colors for the DPaint screen, nothing happens.

As far as I know Prefs/Screens only works for Public screens and DPaintV is using a Custom screen. I'm surprised that DPaintV works now. Personally, I would much rather use PPaint, ImageFX4 etc. on a high-res screen.

Once you are in Dpaint, there is a pulldown menu which will select WB Mode...this means that workbench will continue to operate in the background while DPaint 5 runs.....

Are you talking about the DPaint Prefs->Workbench menu? I have that activated. But I am still stuck. I go to Screens and still don't see DPaint in the "Insert" open screens list. So I still can't fathom how you added it to the list!

Seems to me some kind of "hack" is needed to convert a custom screen to public on open.

Unfortunately, Palette Prefs doesn't like any .set or .pal files in the DPaint Colors drawer I tried, otherwise that may have been an option to set palette from a saved file.

Hmmmm...once I have selected the proper 8 bit screen mode 640x480 corresponding to ID 0x29004 from the Dpaint startup menu and open Dpaint, I select the pulldown menu item I posted "WB Mode" from Dpaint. Then I can select Amiga M or N (I forget which) to switch to workbench screen. From there I open the screen prefs program and Dpaint is listed.

I can go back to Workbench anytime. But where exactly is "WB Mode" ? I can't find any menu item with that exact description!

Basic Amiga knowledge - lamiga-m to flip through screens, lamiga-n to go directly Workbench screen (tempted to write "home screen", haha).

@Hypex

He just means the "Workbench" option that attempts to close and open Workbench.

Well I tried in FE again. I still get no DPaint screen listed in Screens. Are you sure you don't have any other DPaint settings active or some patch to the system? My FE is a fairly clean install.

On that note, I am using DPaint 5.0. What's your version?
