Fair enough, I'm happy for your excitement about the new board. I can understand how frustrating it must be to see good news apparently subverted with negativity, especially when you suspect that some people have 'an agenda'.

Exactly.

Quote:
Criticising (or discussing) hardware specs and prices from a hardware manufacturer should not be construed as criticising AmigaOS or Hyperion, or even criticising the AmigaOS 'camp' (I hate that term, pregnant as it is with implication).

Yes but it's a word used much by some of the usual suspects. They love to put people in boxes.

Quote:
Apologies for the sarcasm in my previous post to you, stress from personal life is probably creeping into my postings over the last couple of weeks.

It's hard to be happy on a forum if you have problems in you private life. And it's understandable, because you maybe come to the forum every day to read and relax a bit from all the stress. And if you expect to have a good time, and instead read negative stuff, even in threads with seriously good news. Then yes it's really depressing, and could easily show in ones posts. Hope you get things sorted out

here is my only other video, quick shot of the Amiga setup
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcoINJ6Ff0M

thank to Ravi for letting me charge my phone up a bit to get this little video.

I feel bad, because me being an open-minded OS4 guy and wanting to see how good MorphOS is to OS4, his machine overheated and I think died at the show while demoing it to me. I was tempted to come home with the power tower however. But just no room.

@Hondo

If the cost fell down to a regular computer price and if I was sure I
wasn't paying anything to Ben H. then maybe who knows ...

I like PPC better than any Intel or AMD out there , fixing those crap
motherboards for years made me realize the quality of IBM and
Motorola belive me , and I like to try and keep an open mind ...

As thing stand now , I will probably use my Windows boxes that
I get almost for free anyway and will get some G4 Mac with Mac
OS X 10.4 to use as my main gun for Internet ... I don't do gaming
that mach except on Amiga 68k ...

Well these are two very unrealistic things to happen. In order for you to become part of the game, you have to accept these two things as way of nature. The hardware is exclusive and expensive, and Ben Hermans have invested ALOT of money and still do, and no matter if you like him or not, he deserves a payoff for it.

So come on give it a break - you know you want a new miggy

Yeah and sometimes the things that cost us the most, are the things we love the most

Bleedin' a lot of cash for a computer is just somehow more attractive than getting a freebee. And trust me theres no chance in hell that that anybody will come up to you and say "hey here is an brand new shiny AmigaOne X1000 for you) That my friend is also unrealistic

@amigang

Uploading my Vcf Amiga special to youtube now :) will link it in this topic and Cyrus topic when done.

Dont worry about the Mac Mini I got it running today. I think it just went a bit mental in that room with all that heat.

@rats

Maybe it just felt jealous of the Power Mac, either way glad to hear you got it running and looking forward to the video.

Hi guys,

I am very new to the amiga scene as I did not think that the amiga was still around, however during the last two weeks I have been hard at work trying to catch up on news and developments. And as this show was only 30 mins away from where I live I decided Sunday morning that I would attend and go and see what it was all about (the next gen Amiga stuff mainly).

I have to say the turnout was pretty poor all round while I was there, the layout of all the stands was pretty poor as well, I don't think there where enough exhibitors to spread out across the whole of the museum, however it was a very interesting day and I got to play with a lot of computers I would never have had the chance to use.

Now the Amigakit and AEON stand was prob the biggest and best attended, there seemed to be a steady group of people coming through. I had a fantastic chat to a really nice guy called Raoul Penel (think he was with ANT) He showed me his Amiga OS4.1 machine and I thought it was phenomenal. He let me have a play around as it was all fairly new to me, great guy and great machine. He also had a CDTV which I had never seen in the flesh, I had a quick go on an adventure game that he recommended, needles to say I was rubbish and died almost straight away, still brilliant to see one. Top guy.

Then had a nice quick chat with Trevor, he also seems like a top guy, very enthusiastic, and he has convinced me to read all the total Amiga magazines, and get hold of some more Amiga futures. Really nice of him to have the boards on show, and talking about them a bit as well. The X1000 looks great in the flesh, and there was a new game that was running on one of them that looked great.

Met a few of the other guys from ANT group, who were busy showing off what there amigas could do. Again top guys.

Finally had a chat with Matthew from AmigaKit. Again really nice guy, good chat about the X1000 (he did say there was a third batch coming in) and the new boards.

All in all I had a great day, these guys really love there jobs and Amigas and it shows. Great enthusiasm for there products and all things amiga. Really got me energised and wanting a next gen machine.

Keep it up guys.

Great to hear the viewpoint of some new/returning to the scene. The new games was M.A.C.E. Thanks to the AmiBoing guys for making a demo available for the show. Had a nice little play on there and looking forward to buying the full version.

@Steveotron

Welcome, sounds like you went down on the Sunday, yes the layout of all the exhibitors was sporadic to say the least and the Amiga-corner should have been at the entrance in all honesty, but besides that I had a great Saturday afternoon and got to speak to a fair few in the amiga-camp including Matthew Leaman, Trevor, MikeyC, Chris Handley and Ravi Abbots.
It was great to see the X1000s up-close and personal, this time inside a case (in comparison to Bletchley Park 2010), I love the R4 Fractal case - the width sets these apart from the usual-size PC cases you see all the time.

The game that you saw running on the X1000 is called MACE.

MACE that was it! that video doesn't do it justice though, it looked great on the X1000 and the big screen. Really smooth and fluid.

Thanks for the welcome.
