Cool, but its a lot of work for old game, I think the original game was written in AMOS, so he can't reuse any of the old code, maybe he can look at the code an rewrite some parts, but different program language and different apis, lots of work.
And yes he should really consider converting the graphics into PNG, and use composition with Alpha blending. Last edited by NutsAboutAmiga on 22-Jun-2014 at 10:53 PM. Last edited by NutsAboutAmiga on 22-Jun-2014 at 10:51 PM.

| AMOS code works fine on os4/mos/amithlon and its also possible to make it system friendly. Granted it'd take some rewriting of gfx/sound code, but in general wouldnt be as much work as suggested.
The real trick here is getting ahold of the sources in the 1st place.

Every time I have tried to run AmosPro in AmigaOS4, the editor has crashed before I can see a gui.
Your confused, your thinking about BlitzBasic2, where there was AmiBlitz3 version with bug fixes and free to use. AMOS was created for AtrariST and ported to AmigaOS, none of the commands in the language relates to any OS library or device, there are some who has worked on re-implementing AMOS, its called XAMOS, but I think its incomplete, and its not likely XAMOS has any modern features.
The only place where AMOS code work perfect is in UAE, but he is not trying to run it in a Emulator, he is trying to make it run in AmigaOS4 with out a Emulator.
RunInUAE as the name suggest runs it with UAE.

As the code need to be rewritten I think its bit more work then you think.

Sure it might be that he is cloning it, writing a new version of it, but then he has to find out how the data files saved and loaded. And write everything from zero.

| I sent a PM to TheAMIgaOne and he said that the new engine has been written with C and the project is still alive, although it's progressing slowly at the moment.
Valhalla is an old game but it's really good, IMO. Eventhough recreating the game engine from a scratch is hard work, it would be worth the effort. |

Yep, the original version was made in AMOS, during early 2000 Vulcan remade the Valhalla series and the Miniseries(Timekeepers etc) to Windows with updated GFX and sound. My engine is designed around the remake, the 'Bring back Valhalla' group on facebook had a few of the level designers which i've had access to some unseen levels and stories for after the first 3 episodes. Thou Paul Carrington(Vulcan Director) has yet to reply with any movement or acceptance of bringing the game back, whether its PC, Amiga or mobile.
My goal would be to get Valhalla on Mac/Linux and Amiga as well as maybe Android/Iphone. As the product is still alive, I cant allow the engine to be unrestricted, people would have to pay for the levels(from the Vulcan Site) but use my application. _________________ Cross-developer on Windows, OS3, OS4, Linux; Current Projects:- Nephele Cloud App OS4 UserProfile System OS4 AmigaOneXE OS4.1.6
