Hi guys

I didn`t follow for a longer time Amiga world... now I am here wondering... is there any 3D gfx driver released for X1000?

Just downloaded something to try to watch Youtube vids faster / smoother, and found ClipGrab, but to start it I had to download some QT [400mb!?] environment.

I've tested some demos that comes with it and when I try to play OpenGL versions, I got some errors. I guess its due to missing 3D drivers? All demos works in software mode and slow[er].

Then ClipGrab started but I was not able to download any YT video. I suppose it is because YT code changed since program was from 2013...?

Did I miss something in Amiga world? Some good updates/apps/progs? :)

@djnick

if you have already installed QT now, try smTube for playing and downloading YT Videos.

With the latest mplayer (it uses compositing within Windows -> you can scale the Video window smooth...) it runs great.

smTube:

for video I suggest you get liveforit-mplayer from OS4Depot ,
if I remember right it use compositing for video output and maybe a GUI for it

@djnick

You need to change some setting in QtPrefs to make it not try to use 3D hardware. Then youtube etc. will work.

@tommysammy

Too funny, considering that statement
Apparently one hand doesn't know what the other does?!

Anyway: I'd appreciate Warp3D for RadeonHD (and R200 fixes for Warp3D and compositing won't hurt neither). Although, as far as I remember, it was already almost done about two years ago , which is why I'm somewhat sceptical.

But would be a pleasant surprise indeed!

There is, the same one on the AmigaOne, so only up to the Radeon 9xxx series. Not the HDxxx cards. So if you plug in a 9250 PCI you will have 3d.

BTW, have you also tried to watch tube videos with Odyssey in HTML5 mode?

@Hypex

Thank you guys. I will check the link. Well - watching YT works all well in html5 mode. It has ~7-8 fps which is ok for a preview, but I was wondering - is there anything new happening in term of 3D drivers... Seems not... yet :)

And Odyssey works very very well - all web sites I've tried works 100% correct. And it works fast [faster than Mozilla port].

About that YT player - any new video it opens in search - shows - No Link to Download. In that way I thought Amiga program was outdated and does not find downloading videos.

Those two threads are not at all inconsistent, one was about ongoing work on a new driver for the existing API the other was about feature requests to extend that API.

If you'd care to read that thread on the Hyperion forum you will find out that it was not just about feature requests but also about the question "where is Warp3D for RadeonHD".
And the statement "Warp3D is going away" sound pretty clear and yes, that is inconsistent with other statements regarding progress on Warp3D.
Anyway: if it's finally in sight for real, great!

The development of Warp3D drivers for RadeonHD cards are being funded by A-EON, they are separate development from Hyperion. The Warp3D API is not being updated and it was never intended to be, even before a line of code was written for OS4.
Current policy is for application developers is to target MiniGL rather than write directly to Warp3D.

To be honest I was surprised when A-EON announced they were paying for Warp3D drivers for RadeonHD cards. To me it seems like wasted effort when you consider that Gallium is being ported to provide support for those cards anyway.

@Daytona675x

The thread title suggest it's about API extension, and I didn't spot /remember your small subparagraph about radeonHD, my assumption when originaly reading the thread (ages ago) was that it was locked as discussing extending an obsolete API was pointless, not because of the mention of RadeonHD.

I suppose my and anybody other's expectation is to have usable expensive machines for at least Youtube and Video / Movie playing :) Ordinary people do not care what is behind or under the hood. They just want product to at least "work" :) I suppose Overlay is something that we all are missing and still waiting.

Well, no.

This thread might have more detail than you want, but it's still the most complete discussion on this topic. You even get graphs and charts! Heh.

@imagodespira

Wow! Thanks a lot! With those 2 latest versions - videos looks smooth and are scalable! I have lots of HD vids here, I will try smaller res, but at the moment this is excellent news that I succesfully started mPlayer [for the first time, it didn`t work on Sam, didn`t work on x1000, now it started to work for the first time.

Thanks for tips and tricks! :)

For an X1000 that is a bit slow. Too slow. I expect that speed on my A1. I must test. But I don't hold much hope. No computer is fast enough here. I have a 2.4Ghz PC running XP and in FF I have never got good video. I have a 11Mbps connection, it's not that slow! I'm always putting things on the lowest setting because everything is so slow around here. Very annoying!

I find sites that choke on Oddssey sometimes. Most annoying is being told I'm forbidden to look at a Google find. Huh? That was with OWB.

But what bugs me with both OWB and Oddssey is the buggy search engine. Now I don't know if Google is buggy or the browsers. I suspect the browsers. Because here if I do a Google search, then another or correct my search, check links and try to go back then it forgets the last thing I searched for! And has no history for it! Most annoying!
