| Hi everyone,
So I have recently gotten a PCMCIA CF card reader to work and have access to a large collection of adfs but I see that I need to get these to floppy (or maybe not?) to access the data on them.
It would be great to be able to easily extract ADF data to a local folder, but I don't know what's the most user friendly version.
I have forgotten how to use amiga dos so i figure something that's GUI driven would be nice. but i remember once upon a time command line stuff was sometimes required for uncompression.
Any tips for what is the best app would be great.
Thanks, Caleb Last edited by 227 on 23-Nov-2014 at 10:50 PM.

thanks guys for the tips! I'll check out the free options first. I'm happy to say the PCMCIA part is working great with software I got from the seller of the A1200.
The main thing is mounting now. The hope is to avoid unnesesary wear and tear on the floppy drive which works, but we all know we gotta take it easy on that kind of hardware if we want it to last.
Thanks, Caleb |

thanks again for the tip, but is there any quick explanation of how to use it? i see it must require cli commands? I'm just not sure which commands.
I'm pretty rusty but i know enough to get to the folder with cd and dir.. but beyond that, a bit lost.
I never was great at setting up arguments even back in the day it was sketchy at best. |

this looks great. one question though, can i extract a adf to a folder instead of a floppy. there are a number of application adfs I can see that would probably not need to be rendered to an actual floppy disk. would be nice to minimize wear and tear on the floppy drive. |

UnADF can be used if you just want to extract the files from an ADF disk image file. |

My personal favorite is to use something like adf2disk or YADI, but write to ramdrive.device (RAD:) instead of the floppy.
This way you get a virtual floppy with the right name (rather than just a folder), which can help for installing/running some software. _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean. |

Looks like you can use DiskImageCtrl program from Workbench. And it can work as commodity. |

I used to use floppyflux with diskimage.device. I just set up DF2: and DF3: as empty disk image files. not brilliant but as I rarely needed it not much of a problem. _________________ OS4 Rocks X1000 beta tester, Sam440 Flex (733)
