I've noticed this is an FE problem when it can't seem to load any modes or when the screenmode.prefs is deleted. Bit late now but I think you may have needed to activate automatic settings and save to monitor if that wasn't done. Or, it's possbile the driver generates different mode numbers to what is saved, so it will be unable to open a mode that doesn't exist and has no fallback like before FE. Can you get to a boot shell? From the early startup menu? If so try open up ScreenMode and check the settings on the right hand tab. |

Yes, I did try other output modes (VGA & DVI), but there is no signal whatsoever.
I will try the 7750 card in another PC and take it from there, but I'd appreciate any other input._________________ Amiga 1200 fully loaded. AmigaONE X5000 w/AmigaOS 4.1 FE / MorphOS 3.9 in Mac Mini G4 1.5GHz. Acer Aspire One with AROS Icaros FPGA Replay and MiST |

| Guys, this is my card: VisionTek 900549 Radeon HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129263) and it's listed in Hans'list of compatible cards, and also reported working by other SAM460EX users.
To answer the other question, yes, I just finished testing the card in a beefed up gaming PC and the card works (under power for that beats gaming system, but works fine).
Am I the only lucky one who can't make it work in a SAM460EX?

| I will try a couple of things and report back:
1. I will install the new UBoot, whcih by the way took many attempts to download since the payment option at acube site doesn't refresh properly.
2. If the UBoot update doesn't wrok, I will then replace my PSU for one with ore juice.
Regarding Point 1 above, I'm trying to run the utility: check_460_baseclock, but I'm getting the following error message: "file is not executable _________________ Amiga 1200 fully loaded. I managed to update the UBoot after verifying that my SAM460ex is a 50 baseclock. Thanks to Jabirulo for pointing out that I needed to make the utility executable.
Now I have to wait for my son to give a me hand swapping the gfx card back in again. My son is in the business of building gaming PC's, so is very handy with hardware upgrades.
I'll let you know how it goes later. Fingers crossed.
UPDATE July 5th, 2015 - 4:49 PM Pacific Time After completing UBoot update, we put the VisionTek HD7750 gfx card, but again no luck. We tried connecting to the monitor with HDMI, DVI and VGA, with no results in either case.
There is no signal from the computer to the monitor.
The 7750 card was tested again in a PC and it works fine.
Any other suggestions?

See, that's the thing, the instructions of my VisionTek 900549 Radeon HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129263), say that I need to connect the card to the PSU through a 4-pin connector, but my card doesn't have one.
Plugging the card directly to a PC without this power cable makes the card to work fine.
I hope other users of the same card and a SAM460ex could shed some light about this mystery. These are couple of pictures of my card:

Maybe you need a more powerful PSU, and don't forget to check that power cable to GFX card is plugged in. |

This is the exact same card I have in my Sam460ex. Works fine. Hopefully you can get it up and running soon.
The card does not use external power, it draws what it needs from the PCI-e bus.
My power supply is only a small 300W and it manages fine. I have an sii3114 SATA card, the VisionTek 7750, a USB card reader and the Sam460ex attached to it (plus a couple of fans).
I am using the DVI port. Never tried the HDMI output as of yet.

Sounding more & more like a non compatable card, I'd send it back & get a different 7750 brand name card. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

But others are using the same exact card in SAM460ex's. See post above.
But just in case, which other card is recommended for a SAM460ex, keeping in mind that it has to be slim or low profile design just like the one I bought?

You can use the same card, just try a different manufacturer other then Vision Tek. We've had the same issues with the x1000, same card, but some don't initialize correctly when powered up. It could be just your card, a replacement may work just fine. No 2 cards are the same, one may work & another not & you know one thing, yours doesn't. My guess is the card you got just is off enough not to work in your system. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

I haven't been able to find any other low profile card, listed in Hans' compatibility list, available for sale in the U.S.
And I can't just go back to Neweg and tell them that I want to swap my card, for another one of the same make and model, because this card does work (in another PC), just not in my system.
I'm running out of options.

I'm scratching my head in confusion to hear that for you, with the same system, this card is working just fine.
BTW, I tried all ports (HDMI, DVI and VGA) and none worked.
My PSU is of 350W, so I don't really understand what is wrong.
I hope someone can shed some light soon. Otherwise, I will try to replace the PSU for a bigger one just in case.

If it helps, I got my Sapphire 7750 1GB Radeon HD low profile 1 slot PCI-e card working fine with a sam460cr (sam460ex minus many onboard ports).
I upgraded the Sam 460CR BIOS to the latest paid ACube version before doing this.
Link to blog and pictures of the exact model, product number, etc, are here:
http://amigax1000.blogspot.com.au/2015/06/warp3d-working-on-my-sam460cr.html
In my case, I installed the Radeon HD 2.10 drivers, Warp3d SI drivers with my old Radeon RV730 PCI-e card installed (which is not compatible with Warp3D SI). Rebooting with that card worked fine. I then powered off, put in the sapphire 7750 card and it booted and worked straight away - no adjustments needed to any settings in AmigaOS4.1.
On my X1000 (when it was working) I had lots of trouble with getting Warp3D SI working on a supported card. In my case I never did get a Sapphire R9 270X model working with it - even though the model itself was listed as supported by the drivers. The card worked perfectly in a PC, much like yours...
As mentioned elsewhere I think some makers of supported model family cards just don't work at all, even though other makers of the same model family do work fine.
It's frustrating and I feel your pain - I burned plenty of money on multiple vendor cards until I got one that worked with the drivers. But getting Warp3D SI working is worth it!
My advice for what it is worth - select a specific card product number with a MAKER and MODEL combination that is confirmed tested and working by someone with the Radeon HD 2.10 and Warp3D SI drivers on a Sam 460ex with the latest firmware installed. And, secondly, consider buying it second hand from Ebay (as I did in the end) if you want to avoid wasting too much more money on new cards that don't work with the drivers.
I wish you the best of luck.

Just to recap: 1. I updated radeonhd.chip 1.7 to 2.10. Confirmed in shell 2. Downloaded and installed Radeon HD 3D Southern Islands while still using originally installed Radeon RV700 card. 3. Swapped RV700 with VisionTek HD 7750. No signal. 4. Swapping back gfx cards again, brings system back to life.
I've been reading some of the specs of these gfx cards and noticed that a 400W PSU is recommended, so since mine is 350W, I will try replacing that before spending money in yet another card, either used or new.
If someone comes across an available low profile 7750 in the Internet, please share the link. I have found nothing, zip, nada. Quote:

Thinking of a possible plan B, has anyone tested this card?:
Model Name HIS 7750 iCooler 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E DP/DVI/HDMI Chipset Radeon HD 7750 PCIe Series ASIC RadeonTM HD 7750 GPU Manu. Process (Micron) 28nm Memory Size (MB) 1024 Memory Type GDDR5 Engine CLK (MHz) 800MHz Memory CLK (Gbps) 4.5Gbps Memory Interface (bit) 128bit Power Supply Requirements 400 Watts Max. Resolution 4096x2160 per display (DisplayPort 1.2) 2560x1600 per display (Dual-link DVI) 2048x1536 per display (VGA) Bus Interface PCI Express 3.0 x16 Display Port Yes HDMI Yes DVI Dual-link DVI-I
I didn't find it listed under Hand's Compatibility list.
I still have to try upgrading my PSU from 350W to 400 or 450W, to see if that works.
Any suggestions to my case? _________________ Amiga 1200 fully loaded. AmigaONE X5000 w/AmigaOS 4.1 FE / MorphOS 3.9 in Mac Mini G4 1.5GHz. Acer Aspire One with AROS Icaros FPGA Replay and MiST |
