In 2003/2004 Amiga Inc. published 9 (IIRC) issues of "Club Amiga Monthly", a HTML magazine only available to people who were part of their "$50 coupon" scam.

I'm occasionally providing stuff like that to the people at archive.org, who have the technical and legal means to preserve things like that for posterity. While striking off things from my todo list, I came across my backups of "CAM": Back then, two articles were released to the public ("AmigaInput - The new Gaming-API for AmigaOS" and "AmiDock and application.library in AmigaOS 4"), I have proper copies of those.

But I never had access to the rest of CAM - I'm sure some of the former 'club' members are still reading this, did anybody happen to make backups of those things? I'd be very interested in those.

i'd be very interested in reading material from the early days of AOS4 development. best wishes in getting copies.

@cgutjahr

I was such a member in those days. I don't remember saving the magazine, though. If a copy still exists, it will be on an old PC HD, and I'm sure I recycled them all as Amiga disks, thus wiping the PC contents.

I'll take a look next week.

@Eldee: That was not OS4 as we know it. It was the "Amiga under Windows" plan, running the "new" API on x86. Amiga Inc put no work into it and the project died.

It was a year or so later that Amiga Inc commissioned Hyperion to start again.

Thank you! I'm not expecting much from this inquiry anyway, not sure how many people saved stuff like that on their hard disks anyway.

No. OS4 "as we know it" was announced in April 2001 as a H&P project. In autumn 2001, the project was given to Hyperion instead. Like I said, "Club Amiga Monthly" is from 2003/2004, way after Hyperion took over.

The coupon scam was actually "$50 off the purchase price of your A1 with OS4, once it hits the market", and the 'club' was introduced later to hide the fact they didn't really plan to honor those coupons.

Here's the teaser content I mentioned that was made available to the whole public, not just 'club' members:

http://gutjahr.hallenradsport-forum.de/share/Amidock.html
http://gutjahr.hallenradsport-forum.de/share/AmigaInput.html

Obviously damage control done by the OS4 team.

I did make backups of CAM issues. I'm not sure if I have all of them. I was using AWeb at the time, so I may have modified the HTML a bit to get it to render properly on that browser, but I didn't modify the content of any articles.

I put them on CD. It might take me a while to find the CD because it might still be at my parents' place. :)

@bigdan
Many thanks for the Archive.org links - I'd tried looking myself, but failed.

Sadly they are not a complete solution - some pictures are missing, and also no Issue 1 at all. ALSO, it looks like there were many more pages each issue than the special article that was made available for download.

P.S. Did they ever go past issue 9? I can't remember, and am really surprised that I never saved any CAM issues. (edit: Looks like they never did.)

Brilliant! I'm glad to hear that.

Take your time digging them out, just don't forget about us

Heh, I didn't think of removing the Sessio ID, thanks a lot. The missing pictures can be taken from the polish translations that samo79 found.

But as ChrisH pointed out, that's just the teaser content the released to the public, the whole CAM issues were bigger. So we still have to hope robo-ant locates his CD backup one day.

@cgutjahr

An anonymous donor provided us with complete backups of all CAM issues (there are twelve in total). I'll see what I can do about making them available somehow.

Great!

I did grab a stack of backup CDs last night when I was visiting my mom, but I haven't had time to get the CAM issues from there yet. I'm glad someone else had them, too!

Sorry, I thought you were asking about the mags that Fleecy Moss produced. I don't remember these others that have been listed.

it is interesting reading so far, I like to see things like "The PowerAmiga 500 Why that name? Well AmigaOne is a good development name, but not a good marketing one. Having too many numerals confuses, and, say, AmigaOne 500 isn`t as easy to market as PowerAmiga 500..."

They also get AmigaOS 4 update every month wow :)
