I changed my avatar on December 1. 
It's the same Christmas avatar that I always use, but at least this year I remembered to change to it before the new year...

I changed it although it took me five attempts  Damn this IP blacklisting issue and damn the hackers than wrecked the Post Office and TalkTalk networks and routers. I hope that all the hackers' tech presents get magnetised and fail!
Let's pray that they don't try and mess up the Playstation Network and XBox Live this Christmas.  _________________

Have you tried to empty the browser cache, Ctrl + F5

Yeah, that's it; worked for me too. I unchecked all the boxes except "cached images and files" (I'm using Chromium) so as not to lose history and other things.
This seems to be an issue with amigaworld.net; I'm not seeing it elsewhere. The expiration time-stamp on images is probably set to "forever" on the server.
