@BoingBear

Well, we could go back to the 'religious furor' of our specific Amiga endeavors...
Legacy purists, fpga fanatics, NG enthusiasts...all arguing with a similar level of futility.

At least this has been a different type of futility.
Although its spreading to other topics, which IS getting tiresome.

Epicureanism I have heard of, I don't think I've ever run into that word, Epikurean.
Is it similar?
...

German spelling of the same thing
The Epicurean creed doesn't concern itself with the existence of the divine, only with the clearly observable fact, that it (literally) makes no damn difference in daily life, if you "believe" or not.
That even holds true for basic personal habbits, like deceipt and murder:
Christians, Jews and Moslems deceive and even murder each other just as much as anybody else does.
I am always amazed at how amazed many Westerners are, when they find out that most islamist suicide bombers were petty criminals in their day-to-day affairs. Jeez Louis, they were screw ups & loosers in life and ended up just that way in death - it makes perfect sense to me, because I know that "God" - even if (s)he existed - is the epiphany of an absentee landlord.
So discussions about supposed divine interventionism are just as pointless as trying to teach a camel how to ride a bicycle.

Holy sh1t, there's some pretty backwards and mediaeval rubbish being spouted around here. Good god! So, prayer was what won World War 2? Why didn't this god of yours save the 80 million people who were killed during the war? Were their prayers not enough to appease his thirst for power? Could he not hear their desperate prayers from the trenches because of being drowned out by the shellbursts all around them? Were they praying to the wrong god perhaps, so he left them to die as punishment? Were their sins deemed punishable by death, whereas the sins of those remaining on the island of Britain were not? What kind of sick, perverted god would do such a thing? Certainly not one that any rational thinker would consider following.

Or is it the case that the war was entirely a human creation, the product of a megalomaniac and his opportunistic allies on a violent power grab, and the countries who stood up against them? I know which is the only one that makes sense.

Sounds rational to me, Paula.
Glad to meet you.

Seems like Daedalus is taking this discussion too seriously.
Its not like rational people have much chance of affect the 'primitive screw heads' of the world.

In a thread over at Amiga.org, the same guy appears to be arguing that if you don't beat your children, when they will grow up they will be into bestiality.

Nah, don't worry It's all too easy to pull apart arguments like his in about 30 seconds, even though I know there's no way to "win" so I rarely spend much more time than that on such matters. Just a quiet day in work here

Haha, amazing. Yeah, every so often he seems to burst out with these tirades (could you call them crusades perhaps?...) I wonder if they correlate with anything, or is it just something he needs to do every so often. Everyone's entitled to their opinion of course, but that doesn't mean such opinions have any merit or are in any way meaningful, informed or even worthy of consideration.

@Daedalus

It makes it hard for anyone that would like to have a rational discussion of the positive side of belief systems, like myself, to look like anything other than a wacka-doo.

Worse yet, I'm not allowed to join in their 'reindeer games' because I won't profess an absolute faith in a primitive interpretation of some text they worship.

Whoah, give me the ladies and forget the ugly dude in the middle

But on a more balanced note, drawing a camel riding a bike isn't the same as teaching one how to do it (the former being a lot more fun than the later)

Thx anyway for the pics, probably the first productive post in this thread since some time.

Strange ... I was beaten as a child and I am all for bestiallity.
Question: Why do you have to do the goat at the edge of the cliff?
So that it pushes back man!

PS: That one was actually bestowed onto me by a nifty co-worker who seemed way too knowledgeable about such topics

Wow! Interesting admission, although the beaten child part is sad ;-(.

Folk musician Pete Singer appears to advocate "Heavy Petting" too.

And the joke, right up there with why sheep buggerers don't tie their boots (so they can put the sheep's back feet in them).

And no, that isn't personal experience (sheep kinda gross me out).

However, I guess as long as you don't MARRY the animals, you haven't really stepped over that line BigD seemed upset by.

Folks, when interpreting my posts *please* switch on your sarcasm circuitry
But being a beaten child makes for interesting bed time stories (better than the "cigarette after").

Sheep are the next best thing, once you've run out of goats and since all my (ex-) spouses where nasty (two legged) goats thus far, I think I'll try a (four legged?) sheep for my next marriage.
It could hardly get any worse at night than it already has been
