The AmigaOS versus MorphOS versus AROS is also ridiculous. Engineering resources within the Amiga community is not of great abundance and the infighting too must come to an end.
Imagine an AmigaONE X5000 or A1222 or whatever offering AmigaOS or MorphOS or both (as dual boot). Totally doable but with all this red versus blue nonsense plaguing an already small Amiga community only gets in the way of such possibilities!
All the camps need to come together for the greater good of the Amiga platform before its too late. Last edited by AmigaMac on 01-Jan-2018 at 01:57 AM.

What other Amiga product, apart an emulator ( based in WINUAE, a free emulator ) made Cloanto ? |
Cloanto has sponsored time and time again development of UAE, and later WinUAE. They provided hardware for UAE developers. The P96 uaegfx driver was work of Cloanto, which later made it possible for others to make drivers for their hardware - for example Vampire and MNT VA2000. A lot of things you now take for granted was made possible thanks to Cloanto, but they didn't make it a "product", instead they worked with open source developers and contributed.Last edited by kolla on 01-Jan-2018 at 03:56 AM.

Interesting enough, I had dream tonight: "AmigaOS" based on Linux, but with its own GUI. For old can like me, it was a nightmare, but others may like this idea. Maybe I drink too much water... Last edited by pavlor on 01-Jan-2018 at 07:59 AM.

Yes, it is :) Its all stinks and original amiga devs cry in their graves. I always hate all that "legality" discussions, like anyone give a fuck who own what. But year by year, all about amigaos4 its "we own uniq rights ! we will fight for!" , but developing itself going slower and slower, less and less. Give it all rest, let's it all burn and die, with all those lawyers who only want sue with anyone all the time.Last edited by kas1e on 01-Jan-2018 at 09:50 AM.

| I think Cloanto cop a bit of a raw deal at times. People are quick to dismiss them because "they just repackage Winuae". That's not the whole picture though. They happen to be contributers towards Winuae development, and also put up money for ks rom replacement along with other developments.
Like them or not, I couldn't care less, but at least give credit where it's due. Theyre done more than most people who bitch about them while either uninformed or just flat out selectively ignorant. |

Apart from legal entanglements and disagreements between developers a collaboration between camps just won't work.
All camps have different, often incompatible goals. AROS developers are for open options, free, and non restrictive in terms of hardware. This goes completely in the face of AmigaOS, which is all about exclusivity, locking into expensive hardware and control.
MorphOS is a bit harder to pinpoint, but for lack of a more precise analysis I'll suggest it sits somewhere in the middle.
There's also the fact that there *is* a lot of collaboration in development. Less so in terms of the OSes, but we all share a lot in regards to our software bases. Heck, a lot of the time it's one developer who supports all platforms.
These sorts of cries that we need co-operation are usually from people who aren't aware that we already have about as much inter-camp collaboration as is reasonably possible.

Pffft... Thor and Olsen are Microsoft agents, like Hyperion and Cloanto...
Nothing good for the Amiga Classic will come with all of them...
Users are very naive...

I don't take any from Cloanto .
I have three 500 , with Workbench from 1.2 to 2.4 , not Cloanto. I have one 1200 with Workbench 3.1 Not Cloanto. I have one 1200 tower with Blizzard PPC + Mediator + Wb 3.9 , not Cloanto. I have one X5000 with 4.1, let me see, no, not Cloanto.
And the versión of Personal Paint I have comes from AEON, not Cloanto.
Sorry, I insist what MAKE Cloanto for AMIGA ? ROMS ? I burn in my work, if I like. Labeled Disks ? I get it, and my labels are more pretty.
So ? |

When I had contact with Cloanto they were always kind. The examples where Cloanto supported projects were already mentioned, I do not need to repeat. That you do not have anything from them is no evidence for the opposite. Depending on how you define "Amiga" you could turn your words in the opposite, just replacing Cloanto with "Aeon/Hyperion". That kind of discussion leads to nowhere. There are two companies having a legal dispute about certain software components and brand names. There were a lot of discussions in recent years regarding who owns what, if that is now decided it would be good for everyone. |

| But since Cloanto owns everything Ainc had, should they have amiga.com domain too, no? Last edited by andres on 01-Jan-2018 at 01:13 PM.

if you insist on that discussion... what have A-eon/Hyperion contributed to Amiga. For me and many others Amiga is 68k not a custom PPC board. But we should stop with that. BTW emulation saved the platform, at least to some degree. There is a legal dispute between two companies that will hopefully end the speculations. |

| Not surprised by any of this. OS4 is barely being developed anymore, might as well sell it(yes, I know that even Os4 is a mess with a lot of licensed code that Hyperion doesn't own) to whomever might be interested while it's worth something.

Yes, nearly dead, but they still own the AmigaOS 3.x source code, don't they?
And the amiga.com domain name, which they seem to want to sell to the highest bidder.

you, too, don't know the simple truth. The simple truth is they are all managed by reptilians illuminatis to destroy the real and strong Amiga, our god 68k !
Trust me, I saw it on youtube, when you see chemtrail in the sky, it's because they are killing a classic system.
Joke apart, I don't know if you are serious or not. _________________ http://apps.amistore.net/zTools |

Oh I realize more than you think. It totally makes sense for the various application developers to support all 3 Amiga platform derivatives as that maximizes their market reach.
However, between some community members and the various OS developers that have some angst concerning a competing derivative of the Amiga platform they're not invested in does not help facilitate collaboration on things necessary for the Amiga platform to thrive as a whole. _________________
