| START gnome-commander
A two pane file browser very much like Dopus4.
gnome-commander also allows you to do things as root instead of having to use sudo.
To install gnome-commander on a Debian based system, including the Ubuntus, simply use the synaptic package manager or in a terminal: sudo apt-get install gnome-commander. It will ask you if it is OK to install the libs gnome-commander requires, answer yes.
Once installed and running you can choose the FILE menu and select the Start gnome-commander as root option, enter your password and you will have all the privileges of root over the files/drives on your computer.
Instead of killing the commander after use simply click the (-) close window option and leave it active so only one click reactivates it.
END. gnome-commander
Keep in mind, all this protected file stuff is for your security and to keep the OS operating.
You can bypass sudo and become root, but that allows all others access to the OS for whatever nefarious reason they might have.

Either gnome-commander uses sudo, or you have it installed with suid bit - it cannot just "bypass" security measures. _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

Yeah, it uses sudo, it doesn't bypass sudo. _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |
