Hi,

It's now well into the 21st (in the UK) and towards the end of it in Australia.

How about an update on the status of the release?

Is the stuff already in the mail?

Or is it still about to be mailed?

Or ....?

Any news is good news... but no news is frustrating.

Hi, yes, but Hyperion is a Belgium company and there it is now 11:45 just like here in Holland :)

So, it's a bit early in the day I guess

@Slick

No.

"OS 4 Developer pre-release" might be ready. But OS4 is not officially released.

It might ship either from factory og from Hyperion today. A couple more days now and we should see how fast the distribution goes.

IPOF its presently 22.07 here on the east coast of Australia, but that's neither here nor there when it comes to Hyperion's location?!

Do Hyperion need financial assistance to purchase postage stamps?
EU Moves To Put VAT On A Postage Stamp
Quote:
A British government spokesman last night said it would oppose the plans. "We fully support competition within the postal market in the interests of consumers, but only when consistent with ensuring provision of the universal postal service at a uniform tariff," he added. "The postal service plays an important social role in universal service provision and the tax system should reflect that," he said.

The plan must go before Europe's finance ministers for approval but the issue might ultimately have to be settled by European Union prime ministers.

EU member states employ different postal systems including state monopolies, private firms only and, in some cases, competition between public and private operators.

The prerelease is schedueled for the 21st.

exact quote:

"the Developer Pre-Release of AmigaOS 4.0 is now tentatively scheduled for May 21th, 2004"

Whatever that means. Schedueled for what exactly?

Schedueled for lunch perhaps. Or for a visit at the zoo.

Sigh

Friday 21st is still only half over, and we're measuring in CET here...

Anyway, I will probably delight you to hear that the CD's in fact arrived at Hyperion HQ. They'll be packaged now and sent out to the dealers. As usual, this depends on a variety of factors that are beyond our control, so please don't start asking again on monday or so - I can't tell ya really

Scheduled for arrival at Hyperion, as I think I explained later here. The press release was a bit thin on details I admit, it was just aimed at giving a rough estimate for delivery to the dealers.

Which reminds me that it is half past two and I didn't have lunch yet...

@Bobsonsirjonny

"sometime next week"

remember that Hyperion has to finish packaging them. Then go to the postal service and send them out to a whole bunch of dealers. Plus it's friday so it may or may not be sent out from their postal office today. Then it has to travel to the dealers. Which has to pick it up from the post office. Which has to repackage them according to their distribution lists. And then go to the post office and post away lots of packages. That in turn has to travel to the different customers postal offices and then either directly to the customer or indirectly for pick up at the post office.

Doing all that in a week or less?

This is great news to know that you have the CD's :)

You can not tell when they will be shipped to the dealers but . . . . will you let us know when they have been shipped to the dealers? Once the CD's have left your place that would be nice to know.

BTW thanks

@Warrent

Hehe, sounds as if they should have implemented an online tracking system for the pre-release. Server overload.

@Warrent

Another thing that would be nice to know is who my dealer is... Ah, ####. I can wait another two years... (Just "celebrated" two years of waiting since my A1 arrived... )

Edit:
Hmm, I didn't know "b o l l o c k s" was only four letters. You learn something new every day, I guess

Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean.

@olegil

Which language is best to swear in?

I imagine german swear words would sound the most nasty. German death metal alwats sounds better than british death metal (and I think death metal suxx) because it sounds more aggressive which suits the style of music.

I am thinking your dealer would be the one that sold you your A1??

I am waiting to hear from Eyetech. I hope that they will let us know when they get the CD's and when they have shipped them.

Olegil has got one of the very first A1-G3SE developer boards, almost directly from MAI,
so I don't think he actually has got a dealer

@Olegil

Gunne should be able to provide a cd for you, don't you think?
Or Hyperion should be able to post one for you directly, after all the effort you've put in the linux-development of the A1.
