| @all here:
Well I have misunderstand the forum here quite a bit :) So here again thanks to all replies!
Currently I'm installing the OS while formatting the other partitions, and no errors occur, so I would say that DMA problems are history now hurray :)
And as Alex has stated, the Installation is very easy, just follow the instructions provided in the Installation Guide (mainly to update the u-boot), the rest is usual "Amiga Install".

The DMA problems ARE history, however, on the pre-release DMA is not enabled. _________________ Playstation Network ID: xeron6 |

That's something I've been meaning to ask, actually. Is DMA disabled by default within OS4-pre, whether you want it or not, or should one do the ide=nodma in the bootargs for OS4 as well? _________________ A1G4XE, OS4-pre |

GAH!!! I'm just hoping my UBoot is flashable. I think its a May 2003 file on there atm, but I haven't checked for a few months (the lure of my OS3.9-equipped 1200 was too much). _________________ After a decade away from the scene, I am back! |

Mine was also a May 2003 but reflashed OK.
Fingers crossed for you! Maybe you should try to reflash before you get the OS4 Pre-Release as it would be frustrating to get the CD and THEN find out you had a protected chip._________________

Well my prerelease is being send, but I still have no CD / DVD -RW drive.
Is the Nec 2500 any good, especially the Mount Rainier support with this drive is ok ?

I have a NEC ND-2500 in my A1, works fine under linux.
Not sure about Mount Rainier, does the 2500 support Mount Rainier. |

And AOS4 is so fast on the A1 you don't even miss dma.
I'm just talking through my hat, as I don't have my CD yet. I am jealous, but trust I'm right about the speed.

That is nice to hear.
I took a look at the mount rainier website and the NEC 2500 with firmware 1.0m complies to easywrite which is the marketing logo for mount rainier compliant drives. |
